How do you translate the eerie, distorted tension of analog horror onto the printed page?

While writing The Last Thirteen stories in this collection, I wanted to explore how desperation makes us vulnerable to things buried deep underground.

For me, this collection came from a simple, terrifying thought: what happens when desperation drives us straight into the arms of something that’s been waiting under our feet for centuries?

To bring that feeling to life on the page, I treated these stories less like traditional prose and more like physical artifacts.

They are decaying journals, transcribed testimonies, and forgotten records of people who reached their absolute breaking point in the wrong place.
