"This story is absolutely brilliant and deserves so much more recognition! The writer’s style makes every word roll off your tongue like pure honey, with beautifully descriptive narration and dialogue that can be funny, sassy, deep, or simply beautiful. But beyond the writing, the concept itself is amazing. The author introduces us to so many fascinating beings, creatures, and concepts from Slavic mythology, and as someone who loves mythology, legends, and folklore, this story had me completely hooked from the very first paragraph onwards. I especially love how the mythology doesn’t simply feel like something added to the story for the sake of having fantastical creatures. It feels woven into the world itself, giving the story its own identity, atmosphere, and sense of wonder. There’s always something new to discover, and honestly, I found myself wanting to learn more about the creatures and Slavic myths and ideas along the way. 👀 And then there’s our beloved protagonist, Mila—an independent, strong-willed, badass healer. She’s radiant, beautiful, and incredibly compassionate toward both the creatures she encounters and the people she helps. You’ll just love her! I also really enjoy seeing how she interacts with the world around her, especially with the beasts and magical creatures that stay by her side, like Luty, the Domowik, and Zazulka. Specifically those three. She isn’t simply strong because she can heal, lead, or because she has the blessing of Mokosz. What makes her strong is something deeper within her character. She is a woman who is trying to heal others while, in many ways, still trying to heal herself. Despite her position and everything she carries in her world, she is still human. And I absolutely love being able to see that side of her. It makes her feel so much more real and relatable, rather than simply being this powerful figure who always has everything together. And actually, you’ll probably love most of the characters and creatures too... well, most of them. Some specific ones, anyway. Others, you’ll want to throw into a ditch like... *cough* Sambor. 😂 There’s also something really enjoyable about the way the story balances its more mysterious and serious elements with moments of humor and personality. It keeps the story from feeling too heavy while still allowing the world and its characters to have depth. You can be fascinated by the mythology one moment and then find yourself laughing at a character’s antics the next. For me, that would be the Domowik or Boruta. You'll know what I mean once you read it. 😂 Overall, this feels like the kind of fantasy story where you can genuinely get lost in the world filled with creatures, myths, gods, and the like. Anyway, if you’re into fantasy, strong female leads, mythology, folklore, and immersive worlds, this is definitely a book worth checking out. It’s truly worth the read! ❤️"
