Chapter 1
The story starts on a hot sunny afternoon. The sun was glaring down, so much that children couldn't play outside for fear they would melt down and merge with the sidewalk.
Two little kids of about 8 years— a girl with dirty blonde hair scattered everywhere, a bit chubby but was tall for her age, dressed in a cute short green dress and wore pale blue leggings underneath, and a boy with neat dark brown hair, skinny with freckles peppering down his face and shoulders up to his knees, dressed in a baggy burgundy T-shirt and sandy brown shorts that reached down far below his knees— were playing in a garage, which was much cooler than any other park they else would've gone too.
The little girl was telling another one of her wild stories that the boy loved to hear.
"Dragons used to take all kinds of things! Gold, silver, rubies, people! But most of all, they loved to take—"
A knock on the garage door stopped her story short "Emily Pillers, it's time for lunch. Will you stay, Jordan?" A tall beautiful blonde woman stood at the entrance of the garage as Emily Pillers was just getting to the interesting part of her story.
Well, it wasn't her story entirely, it was her grandmother's. She used to tell younger Emily all kinds of wild magical story, hence the same passion lived in her granddaughter.
"Mommyyy! Didn't you see I was getting to the really really good part?" The young blonde whined.
Mrs. Pillers laughed and said, "I thought of a better ending for your story." The woman looked at the children with a smile and continued: "Dragons love to eat... their lunches. Come on, little dragons," Mrs. Pillers knocked loudly on the garage door again and turned to leave.
Emily pouted and rushed out after her mom while Jordan followed behind, accidentally hitting a shelf. A lot of things fell and he couldn't avoid it. He blinked as he saw what seemed to be an old Rubik's cube in the pile that had spilled out from a box.
He glanced at it only for a second, before running again, trying to catch up with his friend.

The Pillers' house weren't much of a grand manor, but it wasn't small, even so, it still carried that family comfort.
Emily dashed through the delicately tiled halls, screaming and yelling at some beast to 'Be gone'.
"Jordy! Granny once told me a story about a group of pirates that fought a great kraken! I'm gonna be a pirate too, and fight all the krakens in the world! Yargh!" Emily exclaimed and swung her imaginary sword around, poking and jabbing the air.
Jordy nodded, as he couldn't think of anything to say.
"Emily, no roughhousing in the house" a deep voice was heard quickly passing the hallway, a short fat man walked into the dining room with a newspaper in his hand.
Mrs. Pillers smiled and greeted her husband with a kiss.
"But Daddy! I'm a pirate and I—"
Her dad paid not much attention as Emily rambled on to Jordan, who seemed to be the only one listening.
"Alright, I'm back off to work. Just came to pick up my radio. Em, do you mind explaining how my radio was found in your room?" He bellowed.
Emily pouted and suddenly became quiet, folding her arms behind her back and looking away awkwardly.
"Emily Pillers" her dad demanded once again.
"Daddy, granny said that some futi-tivies—"
"Fugitives, Em" her mom corrected.
"Right! Fugitivies! Of the wizard and witch kind could only use old radi-Ohs to communicate! So I wanted to see which channel they used so I can rescue them and bring them here! Then we'll be friends with a witch! And- and she'll teach us spells! And potions! And—"
"Emily, the stories your granny told you are not true. Stop taking my stuff and playing with them" Mr. Pillers huffed.
Mrs, Pillers patted her husband's back and whispered "Let her have her imagination. She's still in that stage"
Mr. Pillers grumbled "This is the last time you use any of my things to play your make-up magic story games, alright?"
Emily whined "But daddy! They're not stories! They're real! And I—"
"Enough!" Mr. Pillers shouted. The room was silent. Mr. Pillers let out a deep frustrated sigh, and calmly spoke "Enough, Emily. I don't want you playing with my things. Do I have myself clear?"
Emily bit her lip and looked down in shame, quietly she mumbled "Yes, daddy"
Mr. Pillers sighed again, readjusting his tie on his uniform before leaving the house for work for the second time that day.
Emily pursed her lips and nervously made imaginary drawings in the floor with her feet, dragging the tip of her slippers smoothly across the clean tiles. She finally looked up when her mother let out a deep sigh.
"I'm sorry, mommy" she whispered very quietly. "I know you are, but you always do it again" her mother replied her while shaking her head and setting the table.
Emily held the edges of the table and said "I won't! I promise! And sea pirates always keep their promises! Right, Jordy?" She turned to the thin boy who had been quiet all this time.
Mrs. Pillers shook her head and chuckled, "Alright, little pirates. You must be starving"
Emily beamed "Yes. Yes. YES!"
The three sat down at the dining table, with Emily always telling her mom and best friend about more crazy stories and adventures.
