The boy in my seat
I never believed in love at first sight.
Actually, I didn’t believe in love at all.
At least, that’s what I told myself.
It was Monday morning, and I was standing outside my new classroom, holding my backpack tightly while trying not to look as nervous as I felt.
New school.
New people.
New everything.
I took a deep breath and walked inside.
“You’re the new student, right?”
I looked up.
A girl with curly hair and a bright smile was standing in front of me.
“Yeah.”
“I’m Mia. Come sit with me.”
I smiled.
“Thanks.”
Maybe this school wouldn’t be so bad after all.
Mia showed me around and introduced me to a few people before the teacher walked in.
“Everyone, we have a new student joining us today. Please make her feel welcome.”
I wanted to disappear.
Everyone looked at me.
“Go ahead and introduce yourself.”
I stood up.
“Hi, I’m Emma. I just moved here, and... yeah.”
A few students laughed softly.
I quickly sat down.
Mia leaned toward me.
“Don’t worry. You’ll get used to them.”
I smiled.
Then the classroom door opened.
A boy walked in.
He was carrying a basketball under one arm, his headphones hanging around his neck.
“Sorry, I’m late.”
The teacher sighed.
“Again, Noah?”
“Traffic.”
“You live five minutes away.”
He smiled.
“Very bad traffic.”
Everyone laughed.
He walked toward his seat.
Except...
Someone was already sitting there.
Me.
He stopped beside my desk.
“You’re in my seat.”
I looked at him.
“There’s no name on it.”
He smiled.
“Fair point.”
He pulled out the chair beside me instead.
“I’m Noah.”
“Emma.”
“I know.”
I raised an eyebrow.
“How?”
He pointed toward the board.
My name was written beside the list of new students.
“Oh.”
He laughed.
For some reason, I couldn’t stop smiling.
And I had no idea that the boy who had just stolen the seat beside me...
Was about to become the most important person in my life.
