Cement Shoe Fitting

Sun smiled down on those classy Chicago streets, everyone from the riff-raff and respectable blue collared chums to the white collar snobs were frequenting the shops and restaurants on that beautiful Saturday afternoon. Women were dress shopping for a night on the town and the men were pinching pennies to make sure they had enough to spoil their princesses. But not everyone was out and about that day for pleasure, down by Michigan Blvd Bridge a Nervous Nellie was waiting to make a money drop. This Charlie owed a generous sum of money to one of the most ruthless crime lords that ever ruled Chicago; though he was expecting to meet one of the gangster's goons he couldn't be more unprepared for what was sent his way.

Around the corner came a bike courier, the rider wore a grey newspaper boy hat that obviously hid a luscious amount of hair. The face was too soft and too round to be that of a weather beaten bike courier and too pretty to be a boy's. The woman was in her early twenties, her eyes were gorgeous moss green and her smile perfect.

"Hey Charlie," A sultry voice called out.

For some reason facing a girl insulted him, so his confidence boosted. "The name is James."

She laughed, "Doesn't matter to me, you're all 'Charlie's at the end of the day."

"Who are you?"

"If I told you I'd have to kill you." The man scoffed. What must've been going on in that man's mind the woman didn't care to know, she had her orders and she'd execute them with precision as she always did. "Now, Davenport wants his money and he is tired of waiting." She leaned in, "So hand it over... Charlie."

With a crude smile he pulled out an envelope, "It's all there." He turned and walked away. He believed that this chick and those dumb goons of Davenport's would never know the difference between counterfeits and the real bills. He was off the hook and free to walk with no one being the wiser, and best part being when Davenport finds out he'd be out of state and the Moll would be killed for stupidity.

"Hey Charlie, hold up a moment." She came closer to him.

"What?"

"Davenport had a message for you," She picked up his tie and fiddled with it, a sultry smile sat on her face, "Goodbye, Charlie." She quickly tightened the knot and choked that cheating bum to death. Smirking she whispered, "Bet you didn't think that you'd be walking away with cement shoes on." She left her signature on the numskull's face, a ruby red lipstick kiss, and watched as the body sank to the bottom of the Chicago River.

"You're all 'Charlies at the end of the day."
