Chapter 1

Flashlights burst across the red carpet like falling stars.

"Sunghoon! Over here!"

"Park Sunghoon! One look this way please!"

"Best Actor nominee!"

Camera shutters clicked endlessly as reporters called his name from every direction.

At the center of it all walked Park Sunghoon.

His black suit fit perfectly, every detail carefully tailored. His posture remained straight despite the crowd pressing against the barricades. Years of standing under spotlights had taught him exactly how to carry himself.

He stopped when fans held out posters and photographs.

"Thank you for coming."

A young woman nearly burst into tears when he handed back her signed poster.

"Oppa, I've supported you since your debut!"

Sunghoon smiled politely.

"Then you've seen me through some embarrassing years."

The fans laughed.

His manager shook his head.

"You're spoiling them again."

"They paid for the ticket."

"They'd love you even if you ignored them."

Sunghoon glanced toward the crowd.

"No. They wouldn't."

His manager raised an eyebrow.Sunghoon merely smiled. He knew exactly what it took to stay where he was.

Talent mattered.

Hard work mattered.

Luck mattered.

But none of it lasted without people willing to watch. He had learned that lesson a long time ago.

Inside the venue, golden lights reflected off crystal chandeliers.Actors, directors, and celebrities filled the ballroom. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation.

The moment he entered, several people approached him.

"Sunghoon, congratulations in advance."

"You carried that drama on your back."

"Honestly, if you don't win tonight, the judges are blind."

Sunghoon accepted the compliments with a small nod.

"I appreciate that."

One actor laughed.

"Don't tell me you're nervous."

"Nervous?"

"Best Actor."

Sunghoon looked toward the stage.

Then he shrugged.

"I know what I delivered."

The actor blinked.

A smile tugged at Sunghoon's lips.

"Whether that's enough is up to them."

The actor burst out laughing.

"There he is."

"What?"

"The Park Sunghoon everyone knows."

He had spent too many years fighting for recognition to pretend he didn't care about his work.

The ceremony began and time steated to slip. Hours passed beneath bright lights and endless applause.

Award after award.

Speech after speech.

Then finally-

Best Actor.

The room quieted. The host opened the envelope.

"And the winner is..."

A brief pause.

"Park Sunghoon!"

The audience erupted.Cheers filled the hall.People rose to their feet. His table immediately broke into applause.

Sunghoon stood.

Not shocked, nott stunned just smply still.

For a brief moment, he looked at the stage.Years flashed through his mind.

Tiny auditions.

Rejections.

Sleepless nights.

Days when nobody remembered his name.Days when he questioned whether any of it would matter. He had climbed through all of it.One step at a time.

Then he began walking. The applause only grew louder.By the time he reached the stage, the entire hall was standing. The trophy felt heavier than he expected when it was placed in his hands. Not because of its weight.Because of everything it represented.

The host smiled.

"Congratulations. Any words?"

Sunghoon looked across the audience.

Thousands of eyes stared back.People waiting for something emotional.Something memorable.

He glanced at the trophy.

Then he spoke.

"Thank you."

The crowd applauded.

"I worked very hard for this."

A few people laughed softly.

His honesty wasn't surprising.Sunghoon smiled faintly.

"I know actors are supposed to say they never expected it."

More laughter.

"But I wanted this award."

The audience applauded louder.

"I wanted it because every person nominated tonight worked incredibly hard."

He looked toward the other nominees.

"And being recognized among them means something."

The room grew quieter.

"My fans, my team, and everyone who stayed with me through the years..."

He bowed slightly.

"Thank you."

The applause lasted several seconds. Then he stepped away from the microphone.

The speech was simple.Honest.Exactly like him.

The celebration continued long after the ceremony ended.

Photos.Interviews.Congratulations.

Questions about future projects.

Questions about upcoming dramas.

Questions about success.

Sunghoon answered every one of them professionally.Years of experience made it effortless.

Yet by the time he finally returned home, the excitement of the evening had already faded.

The city lights glittered outside his windows.

His apartment remained silent.

The silence didn't bother him.

It never had.

Success often came with solitude.

He had accepted that years ago.

He loosened his tie and placed the trophy on a shelf.

For a moment, he simply stared at it.

Best Actor.

The title felt real.

Earned.

No one had handed it to him.

No one had gifted it to him.

Every inch of the journey belonged to him.

A small smile appeared.

Then faded.

The apartment was still quiet.

He stared the ceiling till his mind started to get blurry and started playing beautiful harmonies.
