What is your opinion?

Another win for Wolfe

"After reading A Little Less Room, Paul Wolfe's other short story, I was interested in reading Please Stay On The Line. The starting premise was compelling: a young motel employee getting a mysterious call from a room that's not supposed to be there. And for the first half of the story, Wolfe explores this premise admirably. His showing-over-telling technique is strong and he can write a good cliffhanger. Now, obviously, when the mystery unraveled further, it got less and less interesting. That's the fate of any mystery. But I also thought the story got a little too convoluted as it went on. Wolfe also could've tightened the amount of dialogue and shortened the denouement, in my opinion. Still, Please Stay On The Line is another succes for Paul Wolfe. His third and longer work, A Way Out, has now risen on my to read pile. "
