Chapter 8:FINDING MY WAY BACK
For a long time, I thought finding myself again would happen all at once.
I imagined that one day I would simply wake up and feel confident, happy, and completely sure about where my life was going.
But I have learned that healing doesn't happen that way.
It happens slowly.
Sometimes it begins with something as simple as deciding to get out of bed and try again.
After everything I had experienced, I knew I could not continue waiting for someone else to make me feel valuable. I had spent too much time wondering whether I was enough for someone else.
Now I wanted to become enough for myself.
I started thinking seriously about my future again.
I wanted a job. I wanted to earn my own money. I wanted to be able to make decisions without feeling like my life depended on someone else.
I began looking for opportunities wherever I could find them. Some applications led nowhere. Some opportunities disappeared before they even began. There were days when rejection made me question whether I would ever get another chance.
But I kept trying.
I reminded myself that being unemployed did not mean that I was useless.
Not having everything I wanted yet did not mean that I had failed.
I was still learning. I was still growing. I was still capable of building something beautiful from where I stood.
I also began paying attention to the small things that made me feel like myself again.
Writing became one of them.
When I wrote, I could say things that I sometimes struggled to say out loud. I could put my memories, fears, dreams, and hopes into words.
For the first time in a long time, I realized that my experiences could mean something beyond the pain they caused me.
Maybe my story could help someone else feel less alone.
Maybe someone reading my words would realize that they were not the only person struggling to find themselves.
And maybe, through telling my story, I would find my own voice again.
I knew I still had a long way to go.
There were things I could not change. There were people I could not control. There were parts of my past that would always be part of me.
But my past did not have to decide my future.
I was beginning again.
Not as the woman who had everything figured out.
Not as someone who had stopped hurting.
But as a woman who had finally decided that her life was worth fighting for.
And for the first time in a long time, I looked at my future and felt something I had almost forgotten.
Hope. ❤️
