"Taupo vs Us is a wonderfully lighthearted and humorous short story that beautifully captures the essence of shared adventures. Following a group of best friends navigating cabin stays and exploring the scenic landscapes of Taupo, the book shines brightest in its portrayal of real, deep human connections. As someone from New Zealand, it was especially lovely to read a story set in our own backyard—it served as a wonderful, nostalgic reminder of our beautiful Kiwi land. The banter between the characters is witty and relatable, making it easy for the reader to feel like they are part of this tight-knit friend group. The story structure works well for a quick, feel-good read. However, the world and the characters are so engaging that the narrative felt a bit too brief. I found myself wanting to know more about the individual backgrounds of the friends and wished some of the local Taupo explorations were expanded into longer chapters. Elaborating on a few more specific mishaps or discoveries during their sightseeing would add even more depth to an already lovely plot—I simply would have loved to read more adventures to be teased out! Overall, this is a heartwarming tribute to the strength of friendship and local travel. The author has a gift for writing humour and authentic dialogue. With a little more expansion on the details, this captivating world could easily hook readers for an entire book series. I highly look forward to reading more from this author in the future!"
