The last room
Ocean, desert, the World
Everything, the same thing.
Different name
I see ocean, l see desert I see the World
Everything’s, the same thing
With a different name
It’s life again
Where there is hope, there is always trial
Where there is hope
You know, you know
Omega
“Are we gonna attack tomorrow or not?”
He takes a long sigh, rubbing his face with both hands until he returns his gaze to the impatient person questioning him. He gives a barely perceptible nod and is left alone inside his tent. He shifts his attention to the mountain of gold in the right corner, as well as some fabrics and a resting eagle.
He has many treasures, perhaps too many; this part is his alone and the one he will distribute among his men is in another tent. He could stop this expedition and return satisfied to his village, full of good news for having once again achieved a crushing and brilliant victory on Saxon land.
However, he doesn’t want to go back there. He flees from there and from what it symbolizes to be there.
Recently—five months ago—his husband and Omega, Jin, died from an epidemic that struck many lands. Not just theirs. Jin was the last to die and he drinks in the golden hall next to Odin, enjoying his time while he waits for him.
Namjoon wouldn’t want to be far away. Let it be a world, a life of distance. The white hairs among his blond locks reveal his decay.
It saddens him to the point that this expedition wasn’t about treasure hunting, but rather the hope that with a move as risky as attacking the western lands head-on... He expected to die, that someone would end his existence.
It’s pathetic how far he is from going to Valhalla. Jin would call him clumsy even to the point of dying. Indifferent to his sadness and desire to be with him again, the gods don’t want his death. Namjoon assumes his future lies in staying alive and fulfilling their whims. Even if in the present, sadness keeps him depressed and distracted.
And the worst part is that he can’t prolong this expedition any longer. He must return home. He has someone waiting for him, even if it’s not the one he desires.
This will be the last attack before he returns home. With luck, tomorrow he’ll find a wife, lover, or slave to satisfy himself along the way.
“Is there anything important here? There are so many soldiers defending the place,” Namjoon asks curiously.
“Nothing I know or care about.”
“How informative, Jungkook.”
Jungkook laughs unfunny as he aims and fires an arrow. Namjoon stays under cover, catching his breath, wiping the dirt from his eyes and getting a better grip on his weapons. This place is the most protected they’ve come across so far.
Which is saying a lot.
More soldiers, walls, barricades, weapons, etc. Just a small tower with someone possibly at the top. It must be important if it’s so heavily guarded. Namjoon hopes it’s worth all the effort they’re putting in. He looks around.
“Yoongi?”
“Having fun... He’s already cleared the entrance,” Jungkook reports.
“Good,” Namjoon said in a heavy voice as he stood up.
He gets out of the small shack and heads toward the center of the small village. Packed with guards as if they were defending a king. It was easy for him to arrive, enter, kill the few remaining on the first floor and mark his way up.
It’s laborious, but his size helped Namjoon when it came to making his way up. He entered one of the rooms and found large amounts of gold and other valuables piled up. He smiles, panting and swinging the axe in his hand. This alone justifies the loss of… What? Five men? Maybe four.
“How strange they didn’t try to take this so we wouldn’t steal it.” Namjoon turns his head and finds Yoongi, who is covered in blood, so much that it’s running from his hair and skin.
“Maybe there’s more and more valuable than this at the top,” Namjoon opines, pointing briefly up.
“It’s almost certain,” Yoongi mumbles, rubbing under his chin.
The path is relatively clear and they can already say the place belongs to them. Namjoon stops abruptly as he opens the door. A door opens, a child runs through the small gap between his body and the door frame.
Namjoon starts considering options. Why would there be a child alone in a room? Is him important?
Calmly chasing him to the last room in the tower, Namjoon still swinging the axe in his hand. He tries to listen through the wood, but all he can hear are muffled, incomprehensible sounds.
He bursts open the door and finds an empty room. Strange and disappointing. He knocks a few things over, messes up a couple of pieces of furniture and finally notices a secret door behind an out-of-place piece of furniture.
"Silence, silence, silence...”
Namjoon laughs silently. There’s an adult there and to protect the child, he hides. He pulls the piece of furniture and the next thing happens quickly: he’s pushed aside to make way, Namjoon throws the axe, just in time and with enough precision for it to stick in the door, right next to the man who freezes in fear and surprise.
“I hoped that you were brave enough to attack me,” Namjoon shrugs, “not that you ran away. What a turn-”
The child’s crying distracts him.
"Don’t cry, nothing bad is going to happen. Be quiet.”
Namjoon moves closer until he takes out his other axe and corners the man, who takes the boy down and places him behind him to protect him. Namjoon looks at him intently, his head bowed.
He is a man with very fine, handsome and well-kept features. Judging by his clothes and jewelry, he is not a servant, much less a warrior. He assumes he is royalty. Namjoon inhales and exhales sharply, absorbing the scent emanating from the man with ebony hair. The other tenses and shivered, listening to Namjoon’s chuckle.
“Omega,” he growls maliciously. Namjoon doesn’t have a chance to say more; the Omega speaks:
“Take everything in the tower,” Namjoon raises an eyebrow. “There is a small camp in the reserve a short distance away in the forest. You can take all that too. Just don’t get too close.”
“You speak my language,” Namjoon points out, more interested in that than in the information he just received.
“I had the distinct luxury of learning,” he says with a sarcastic tone. “You heard me. You have everything at your disposal. Just-”
“Who are you?” Namjoon asks. The infant is crushed against the wall at this point. “It’s no good for you to lie and say you’re a servant playing with expensive clothes. I want to know your name.”
“I am,” Despite the pressure Namjoon generates in him, he doesn’t look intimidated. On the contrary, he seems more determined and steadfast. “Lee Park Ji-Min, King of Mercia. A kingdom you are invading and desecrating.” He adds through gritted teeth.
“At least they have the blessing of a handsome Omega King,” Namjoon praises with a stubborn smile, “so, Your Royal Highness, who-”
"I-I can’t breathe...”
“Loocked you up here, far from your safe throne behind high walls.”
Jimin didn’t think to answer and he didn’t have the time to. The boy escaped from his “hiding place”, but unfortunately, Jungkook opened the door. Unbidden, he raised his weapon, ready to kill the boy and he would have done so if it weren’t for Jimin. The Omega pushed him away, grabbed the axe stuck in the door and hit it so hard that Jungkook dropped his own.
Jimin instantly hugged the child, picked him up and stepped back with him in his arms, pointing with the dirty, too-big-for-his-hand axe.
“I told you where the gold is! Take what you didn’t know you’d have! Stay away from us.”
Jungkook glanced at Namjoon out of the corner of his eye. That scent he gave off was one that sought dominance. He took a couple of steps back as a precaution. Namjoon approached Jimin cautiously, giving a slight growl. Contrary to his usual tone, the Omega didn’t flinch. He maintained a dignified stance and posture despite the subtlety.
“Namjoon-”
Jimin whimpers, the boy clinging tighter to the Omega.
“Let’s go,” Namjoon announces. “Take everything and-”
"Dad,” the infant whimpers.
“I’ll take him.”
“What a great surprise,” Yoongi huffs, crossing his arms. He arrived just in time for this scene.
Namjoon holds Jimin’s face, managing to elicit a pitiful whimper from him, squeezing the boy in his arms. He’s pleased by his submissive gesture at the physical manipulation, but his gaze still holds an intense challenge toward the blond, blood-covered Alpha. One who only thinks:
This Omega reminds him of Jin.
