Author's note
A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
This story was born from late-night thoughts, a deep obsession with sports romance, and a desire to write a tennis story where love is just as chaotic as the game itself. I wanted characters who are beautifully flawed, who make mistakes just like the rest of us do.
I started writing this because I felt like there was a void for raw, emotional tennis romances out there. It didn’t start out this way, though — the original title was Spice on My Racket, and it was exactly what it sounds like: lighter, spicier, and a lot less concerned with anyone’s feelings.
But the deeper I dug into these characters and their world, the more I realized this story needed to be something else entirely. It grew alongside me — from casual drama into something more epic, darker, and deeper than I ever planned. I pulled the focus away from the smut, and Reckless Spin is what came out the other side instead: a story about high stakes, painful regret, toxic choices, and the darker side of the sports world that doesn’t always make it onto the podium.
One quick heads-up before you dive in: the first chapter might make it look like you’ve stumbled into another teacher-student romance. I promise you, that is not what this is — stick with it, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
Some of what happens in these pages is even pulled from pieces of my own life, even though I’ve genuinely never played a single game of tennis.
