A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
This story was born from late-night thoughts, a deep obsession with high-stakes drama, and a desire to write a story where love and relationships are just as chaotic, tense, and unpredictable as any elite sport. While tennis sets the stage, the real match happening in these pages is pure, raw emotional chaos.
I wanted to create characters who are beautifully flawed, who navigate the fine, blurry line between a healthy connection and a toxic obsession, and who learn the hard way how young heart mistakes and a single miscommunication can completely unravel everything. You’ll see two very different sides of love here — one laced with toxicity and tension, and another that offers a completely different kind of refuge.
It didn't start out this way, though — the original title was Spice on My Racket, and it was exactly what it sounds like: lighter, spicier, and a lot less concerned with anyone's feelings. But the deeper I dug into these characters, the more I realized this story needed to be something darker, deeper, and far more emotionally charged. I pulled the focus away from pure smut, and Reckless Spin was born instead.
One quick heads-up before you dive in: the first chapter might make it look like you've stumbled into another teacher-student romance. I promise you, that is not what this is — stick with it, and you'll see exactly what I mean.
Some of what happens in these pages is even pulled from pieces of my own life, even though I've genuinely never played a single game of tennis.
