Summary

Amara thought she knew the people around her. She was wrong. It begins with a photograph—one ordinary picture that should have meant nothing. But when Amara notices something hidden in the background, she realizes the photograph is connected to a secret someone has been desperate to keep buried. Then Daniel appears. He knows more than he is willing to say, and the closer Amara gets to the truth, the more dangerous everything becomes. Strange messages begin appearing. Memories she thought she could trust start feeling like lies. And someone is watching her every move. Amara has always believed that the truth will set her free. But what if the truth is exactly what someone is willing to kill to hide? As secrets unravel and trust begins to crumble, Amara is forced to question everyone—including the people she loves most. Because sometimes, the person standing beside you is the one hiding the biggest secret. And sometimes… knowing too much can cost you everything.

Chapter 1The message

At exactly 11:47 p.m., Amara's phone vibrated beneath her pillow.

She almost ignored it.

Almost.

She was supposed to be sleeping, but her boyfriend had left her on read for three hours, and her mind wouldn't stop replaying their last conversation.

We need to talk tomorrow.

Four words.

Four terrifying words.

Amara reached for her phone.

The message wasn't from him.

It was from an unknown number.

> Don't trust Daniel.

Her stomach dropped.

Daniel.

Her boyfriend.

She stared at the screen, waiting for another message.

Nothing.

Then the phone vibrated again.

> Ask him where he was on June 12th.

Amara's heart began beating faster.

June 12th.

She knew exactly where Daniel had told her he was that day.

At school.

But something about the message made her feel cold.

She typed:

Who is this?

The reply came immediately.

> Someone who knows what happened.

Amara sat upright.

What happened?

Before she could type another word, a third message appeared.

This time, there was a photograph attached.

She opened it.

And froze.

It was Daniel.

Standing outside a house she had never seen before.

Beside a girl Amara had never met.

And the timestamp on the photograph was—

June 12th. 11:36 p.m.

Amara's fingers went numb.

Because Daniel had told her he'd been asleep by 10.

Then the unknown number sent one final message:

> You have no idea who you're dating.
