Chapter 1
Sarah(POV)-
BANG
I was sitting on the couch watching tv when my father stumbled in. I could smell the alcohol when he came in.
“You look so much like her”, my dad said as he looked at me. He brushed a piece of my hair behind my ear. He leaned in towards me, I tried to push him off of me but he was too strong.
SLAP
Before I knew it had slapped him. ” You bitch!” my dad yelled as he punched me back. He started to hit me more, I climbed out from under him and ran. I almost got to the door when someone pushed me down, he held my hands down and undid my shirt, he started to undo his pants when I kneed him. He fell down in pain, I took this chance to run into the backyard.
I shot up from my bed covered in sweat. I hate that dream, I tell myself. I haven’t had that dream in a long time, “Why am I having it now?” I ask myself, I get up from the bed and go to the bathroom. I look at myself in the mirror, I look terrible, my hair is all over the place, my makeup that I didn’t take off all smudged. I get dressed and leave for school, I’m a junior and the school year is almost done. I get in my car and pull up to school, I see my best friends Megan and Alex. I get out and we talk about how our weekend was.
Derek(POV)-
I’m sitting with, Carol my mother, Brad father, and little sister, Sophia, watching my brother, Blake, and his fiancee, Melissa, dance.
“Don’t they look beautiful together?” My mother leans over and asks me, “They do” Sophia answers looking excited that she was going to have another sister in the family.
“Come on Soph lets go and dance,” I say while holding out my hand to her and she nods her head excitedly and grabs my hand, pulling me to the dance floor. While we are dancing I see my mom and dad get up and start to walk over to the dance floor.
BANG
We look and see the police come in before they could say anything people from the group pulls out a gun and starts to fire this causes the police to fire back. I grab Soph and run and hide, I put her in the kitchen, I run back to see how everyone is, I see my father, mother, Blake, and Melissa hiding behind a table my father and brother both with their guns out. My mother sees me and she pulls Melissa’s arm to show her where I am. They get ready to run in my direction when they started to run towards me, my father started shouting ” NO, DONT RUN!” They turned and looked and both got shot, my father and Blake both watching, they stood up and we started running towards my mom and Melissa. When we got there they police started to walk up, my father started to shoot at them and they shot back, he got hit, and Blake did the same while this little fight happened I tried to run, but got hit by a stray bullet.
I could hear them shouting at me to stop, but I kept running, I ran until I found a shed that looked abandoned, I went in and sat down, hoping that the police wouldn’t look in here. I didn’t hear them, so I let out a relieved breath. I relaxed and started to fall asleep. “Hopefully I don’t die from this,” I say to myself looking at my wound. I fall asleep thinking about what just happened.
I wake up to whimpering I look over next to me and see Soph and smile, “she must have come in when I was sleeping,” I whisper to myself. Soph doesn’t remember what my parents and Blake or Melissa look like but she does remember what happened. Thanks to Brett, my friend since childhood, she got home safe after the party. I got up went into the bathroom and got ready for the day. I woke Soph up and got her ready, I got her in the car and drove her to school.
“Bye sweety,” I say to her before she walks into the building. “Bye!” she says to me, I laugh as I see her turn around and run towards her friends. I get into my car and drive towards my office.
I get out and everyone instantly turns towards me, I don’t pay them any attention I just walk into my office. I get in and start to work on the paperwork on my desk.
