Gothic
"Intriguing premise with a spooky, atmospheric hook that pulls you in and leaves you eager to uncover the mystery behind the strange occurrences! "
Genial!!
"The three adjectives that come to mind after reading these five chapters are: attractive, fluid, and brilliant. While there is always room for improvement depending on personal taste, the core idea is clearly conveyed, which I truly appreciate. Nothing felt forced; the transition between paragraphs feels almost organic. The story lingers exactly where it needs to and for as long as it deserves. This is clearly the work of someone who knows exactly what they want to tell."
Where's the letter?
"A Ghost in the Wall delivers a chilling, atmospheric paranormal mystery that steadily draws readers in as a couple uncovers the odd occurrences inside their newly acquired Gothic home. The novel excels at creating eerie tension through intentional, deliberate hauntings—such as precisely rearranged furniture and meticulous paranormal activity—rather than relying on random scares. Driven by strong characterization like Emily's engaging presence, and Sophia's muscular foil, this story builds a compelling, frightful momentum that horror fans will thoroughly enjoy."
Chilling good
"It has quite compelling plot and i love the characters especially Emily. I enjoyed the story a lot"
Frighteningly good
"I enjoyed reading this! I highly recommend this! just don't recommend reading it at night if you scare easily lol"
I'm loving the story so far
"The characterization is good, the atmosphere is built wonderfully. I love the fact that we get straight to the point in this story and I'm actually looking forward to the future chapters. "
A promising horror story. Can't wait to see the horror and scaring scenes later on as the story progress.
"A good looking horror story that gives me the vibe of paranormal activity movie style. Currently, the story is still at early stages and the author has done a great job in building up the events that will eventually lead to horrifying aspects of the story later on. Can't wait to see how the home owners deal with the ghost later on. Highly recommended this book for horror fans to read."
Mystery gets better as it goes
"The beginning wasn't as strong. I don't mean just chapter one. I mean the first two chapters need more work in terms of flow. Every horror book would feel slow at the beginning, but I would love to see details about the girls. Maybe them talking about memories, or why they added certain items to the house, etc. From chapter three onwards, I liked it best. Horror is a genre I am pretty desensitized to, so what I looked for was mystery. The small details of Mrs. Hopper were interesting. Then somehow they meet Mrs. Hopper's daughter (Who by the way, was listening to their conversation), and she offers a potential solution very early. I was a tad sad about that, because I feel the girls could put a bit more effort into discovering the issue. Everybody is handing out information, and the girls also do nothing about it. Instead, they were worried that the ghost would haunt them in their private time?! (The joke ended for me the second they actually did it.) Personally, I would be more concerned about my stuff moving around. Or idk, trying to figure out if Mrs. Hoppers can't unlock doors so they can sleep somewhat peacefully. For example, if my entire living room was moved, I would put a camera. They are a bit too casual about it, which lessens the scare factor. Overall, I am left with way more questions than I should be left with. Hopefully, as the story develops, I am proven wrong. I think the biggest factor setting me off is the girls. I truly want to see them be more proactive in engaging with their house. "
Gets Better as It Goes
"The first chapter was probably the weakest for me since there was a lot of description and info being given pretty directly. Some of that setup does matter later, though, and once the haunting started, I got more interested. I liked that the ghost wasn’t just moving things around randomly. The jewelry, furniture, and the stuff with everything being placed so precisely made more sense once we learned what Mrs. Hooper was like. The coaster detail especially made that work for me. Chapter 3 was my favorite. The bed being completely taken apart after Emily started putting the puzzle pieces back was a good payoff, and her reaction was funny too. The main thing I’d work on is the editing. There are quite a few switches between past and present tense in all the chapters so far, along with some grammar and punctuation issues."
Interesting
"Good plot, but I think there are a few issues with, specifically at the beginning of the story"
Chills and thrills a ghost in the walls
"I feel like you should reduce on telling us how much time has passed, a few hours later this and a few hours later that, also not to judge but beginning your story with one Saturday.... Maybe say something like, It was hot and humid summer morning when a black van and a car drove into a silent neighbourhood..... Just an example. Maybe also reduce on alot of dialogue since your story is in 3rd person pov. You can explain somethings yourself. Like they agreed on ....... i stead of a person suggesting then they agree. This are just my honest thoughts and if you feel that I am too judgey then I apologise "
