Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Apocalypse Outbreak

Volume 1: Default

“Ahhh!!! Zhao Ming! No! That’s where you pee-it’s so dirty, you can’t bite that!”

A female student wearing a JK uniform with sheer white stockings let out a shrill scream. Her figure was perfect, her features exquisite, and right now, her stunning face was pale with utter terror.

Her whole body trembled uncontrollably.

Her boyfriend had seemingly gone completely insane. At this very moment, he was hugging the toilet bowl and gnawing on it furiously. He didn’t even care that several of his teeth had chipped off, treating the porcelain like some kind of priceless delicacy.

At the sound of her scream, her boyfriend snapped his head around. A pair of milky, clouded eyes locked straight onto her. Tang Mengting was so terrified she froze dead in her tracks.

With flailing limbs, Zhao Ming lunged straight at her.

Just as he was about to tackle Tang Mengting, a figure suddenly charged in and kicked Zhao Ming flying. Before he could recover, an expandable baton smashed heavily into his head.

His skull caved in, yet Zhao Ming still struggled to get up. Liu Yang didn’t hesitate, delivering several more vicious blows with the baton until his head burst open. Only then did he finally stop moving.

“Ah! You... you killed him!” Tang Mengting pointed at Liu Yang, her voice trembling in horror.

“Look closer. Is your rich boyfriend even human anymore? If he’d bitten you just now, you would’ve turned into a zombie in seconds, you idiot!” Liu Yang said coldly.

He immediately slammed all the doors and windows of the villa shut, locking them down tight.

The girl he rescued was Tang Mengting, a freshman at Donghai University and their class monitor. The guy who turned into a zombie was her boyfriend, Zhao Ming, the class study committee member.

And the guy who saved her was Liu Yang, also a classmate in their grade.

The only difference was that Tang Mengting and Zhao Ming were homeowners in this luxury villa community, whereas Liu Yang was just a part-time security guard here.

As an orphan, Liu Yang had to work to pay his tuition. Every day after class, he had to rush to this high-end neighborhood and stay on duty until midnight before he could go back to sleep, earning a mere 3,000 yuan a month.

Many of his wealthy classmates lived here. Every time they saw Liu Yang, they would give him cold, disdainful sneers. Liu Yang had long since gotten used to it.

Some people were born in Rome; others were born to be beasts of burden. That was reality-unfair, but unchangeable.

Earlier today, Liu Yang had been standing guard as usual.

Out of nowhere, screams and panic broke out across the neighborhood.

Right after, he saw a middle-aged man drenched in blood charging toward him, roaring wildly like a zombie straight out of a horror movie.

Without a second word, Liu Yang pulled out the baton from his waist and beat the man to death on the spot.

Looking for shelter, he ducked into the nearest villa.

The moment he stepped inside, he saw Zhao Ming attacking Tang Mengting, so he finished him off as well.

Witnessing the brutal scene, Tang Mengting was scared out of her wits. Her face was deathly pale, and her body shuddered as she instinctively grabbed onto Liu Yang’s arm.

“What do we do? Liu Yang, what do we do?! You have to protect me! I’m so scared... It’s terrifying outside! You’re the security guard here, you get paid by us! When there’s danger, you’re supposed to put your life on the line!”

“Heh, put my life on the line? Are you out of your mind? Who told you a security guard guarantees your life, Monitor? For 3,000 yuan a month, you expect me to die for you?

Didn’t you guys used to mock me for being a watchdog? Since I’m just a doorman, how am I supposed to keep you safe?” Liu Yang sneered coldly.

Liu Yang, Tang Mengting, and Zhao Ming were all in the same class. Tang Mengting was the class monitor and the school beauty, while Zhao Ming was the study committee member.

Because Liu Yang worked as a guard in their neighborhood, he had taken plenty of contempt from the two of them.

Now this aloof class beauty finally knew what fear felt like?

Tang Mengting was left completely speechless by his rebuttal.

Liu Yang couldn’t be bothered to waste breath on this so-called high-and-mighty class monitor. He walked straight over to the refrigerator and checked the food supplies inside.

There was hardly anything-just two lonely bottles of milk.

Liu Yang frowned. “You guys don’t stock any food at home?”

“I... we don’t know how to cook. We usually eat out at restaurants... so there’s no food,” Tang Mengting stammered, trembling.

“No food means waiting to die. It’s full of zombies outside, so breaking out is practically impossible. Without food, even if we drink water, we’ll starve to death in seven days at most!” Liu Yang shook his head.

The residents in this villa district were mostly rich kids who rarely cooked for themselves. Even if they wanted to scavenge neighboring villas, setting aside whether those places had food, just clearing the zombies on the streets was a massive hurdle.

The risk was far too high.

Just as Liu Yang was at his wit’s end, a mechanical prompt suddenly sounded in his mind:

[“Ding! Apocalypse outbreak detected. Global human population is sharply declining. Host has bound to the Many Children Many Blessings System. Spread your lineage to receive system rewards. For the continuation of human civilization, please sire as many offspring as possible!“]
