A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
To my readers,
When I sat down to write this story, I didn't reach for a pen; I reached for the weight that has been sitting on my chest for years.
We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with headlines that are supposed to be "news," but to me, they are just obituaries for lost innocence. Every time I open social media, I was met with yet another story of a woman whose life was shattered, whose dignity was stolen, and whose justice was bartered away by a system that finds a thousand reasons to let the predators walk free.
This story was born from that exact point of exhaustion-that burning, silent rage that boils over when you realize how many voices have been silenced by fear, and how many monsters are shielded by the apathy of society.
This narrative is not just fiction. It is a mosaic of true events, woven together with the threads of my own experiences and the visceral, often painful emotions I have carried while bearing witness to the suffering of others. When I write about Meera's trauma, it is because I have felt the phantom sting of a world that forces victims to live in "silence" to protect their reputation, while the perpetrators continue to breathe, move, and destroy.
I wrote this because I am tired of the helplessness. I am tired of the "what-ifs." I am tired of a society that whispers to victims that they should be quiet, while the rest of the world turns a blind eye to the predators hiding in plain sight.
Through Meera, I am channeling the voice that is so often stifled. Her journey-from a girl who flinched at the brush of a sleeve to a woman who finally chose to fight back-is an exploration of what happens when that "polite silence" is finally broken. It is a reflection of the anger we aren't allowed to express, the fear we are forced to swallow, and the raw, dangerous power that emerges when someone realizes that if the world won't give them justice, they might just have to carve it out for themselves.
I ask you to read this not just as a story, but as a conversation. Let it make you uncomfortable. Let it make you angry. Let it force you to look at the cracks in our society that we have spent far too long ignoring.
If you have ever felt that same rage, or if you have ever felt the need to hide your own wounds to keep the world at peace, know that you are not alone. This is for you.
With everything I have,
