My Life Story – Part 1
Despite making every possible effort to save him, we lost him. For a child, losing a father means losing the person who made the world feel safe and gave them a sense of security. At that time, I did not understand much about life, but I understood what pain felt like. His death created a emptiness in my life that has never completely disappeared.
The Eight Years I Lost
After my father’s death, my interest in education gradually began to fade. One day became a month. A month became a year. Before I fully realized what was happening, eight precious years of my life had passed. Instead of studying, I spent my time watching movies, attending local drama performances, listening to music, and wandering around aimlessly with friends.
At the time, I thought this was freedom. Today, I realize that I was actually wasting the most valuable years of my life. Time is something we can never get back. Sometimes, a single moment can change the course of an entire life and give it a completely new meaning.
The Moment That Changed My Life
One afternoon, I was sitting quietly beside two older relatives while they were having a conversation. Suddenly, one of them told me to leave. When I did not move, they began speaking in English so that I could not understand what they were saying. Perhaps they did not think much of the situation. But for me, that moment was unforgettable.
I felt embarrassed. I felt small. Most importantly, I realized how much I had lost by giving up my education. That painful experience created a new determination within me. I asked myself a simple question:
“Why can’t I learn?”
That question became the turning point of my life.
Starting Again
From that day forward, I made a promise to myself. No matter how difficult life became, I would return to my studies. People laughed at me. Some questioned my decision. Others told me that I was too old to start again.
But I refused to listen to them. I collected my old textbooks, enrolled in a new school, and started my education again from the beginning.
Every small achievement gave me a little more confidence. Every challenge made me stronger. For the first time in many years, I began to believe that my future could be different.
Looking back today, I understand an important truth that life has taught me:
Your past does not determine your future. No matter how many mistakes you have made or how much time you have lost, it is never too late to start again.
My father’s dream had never truly disappeared. It was simply waiting for me to believe in myself again.
