Summary

They’ve been best friends for as long as either of them can remember. They know each other’s habits, secrets, moods, and silences better than anyone else, and their friendship has always been the one constant they can rely on. But lately, things between them feel just a little different. Neither of them wants to think too deeply about it. There are too many risks in questioning what they have, especially when neither is sure how the other would feel. So they keep things exactly as they are—laughing it off, changing the subject, and convincing themselves that their friendship is more important than whatever these strange new feelings might mean. As they navigate growing up, changing friendships, and the possibility of their lives taking them in different directions, they find themselves caught between what feels safe and what they’re too afraid to admit—even to themselves. Because sometimes, the hardest part isn’t falling for your best friend. It’s wondering whether saying anything could cost you the person who means the most.

Chapter 1

Nora

The loud sound of the alarm interrupting my peaceful sleep. I groaned and turned it off, going back to sleep just for 15 minutes. But what did i wake up with? Being an hour late! Sheesh punctuality is not my cup of tea. I rushed out of bed and stumbled towards the bathroom, brushing hastily whilst attempting to comb my jet black hair. I practically ran downstairs only to see Noah serving breakfast neatly. He glanced at me,”You’re late.”

“ A very good morning to you too!” I exclaimed

“I packed you a sandwich. You should be on time Nor. Every second matters and nobody should know that better than you. You are a photographer and one second here and there and your photos are ruined.” He started lecturing me.

“You know sometimes you feel like my father more than my best friend. And you are very annoying, so trust me when I say if I hadn’t met you years ago I would’ve kicked you out of my house.” I was clearly not in a good mood, my photographs being not on the point made it even worse.

“Be back by evening and don’t forget to drink water—“ I slammed the door shut . Finally finding peace as soon as I stop hearing his voice.

***************

I hurried to the meeting as soon as I heard Lyra had stolen my photographs and took all the credit. This can’t be happening. It took me months to get this info and click pictures of Elena Darkwood, a billionaire dating a commoner. I was in media not only photography. But that didnt mean I wont defend myself. All of the confidence I had disappeared as soon as I reached the head’s office. Dorian Cross. I had nightmares about this guy. My past traumas that I had been burying for years seem to rise without my permission. Not soon enough I started to regret every decision I made to come here. “You can do this Nora. Just breathe.” I motivated myself. I open the door to see a man in a black suit facing Lyra. A grin plastered on his face as he turned to me.
