Devraj is a man molded by sudden responsibility and solitude. Thrust into the role of village head at just eighteen after losing his father, he carries a heavy, quiet authority that commands immediate respect across the village. Without siblings or parents to lean on, he has grown up fast, becoming a brooding, self-reliant leader who keeps his emotions rigidly under control.
Appearance: Tall, broad-shouldered, and physically imposing from years of managing land and village affairs. He has sharp, stern features, dark intense eyes, and a sun-bronzed complexion.
Attire & Presence: Typically seen in crisp cotton kurta-pyjamas, a dark vest for formal village meetings, and a classic 90s analog watch. He moves with calm, deliberate power and speaks sparingly, but when he does, his deep voice leaves no room for argument.
Personality: Stoic, fiercely protective, and deeply private. To the village, he is an unshakeable figure of law and order. Behind closed doors, however, his restraint wears thin, hiding an intense, possessive, and passionate nature that he has never had a reason—or a permission—to unleash until now.

Gauri is a young woman whose life has been shaped by hardship and isolation. Having lost her mother at ten, she grew up quickly in a quiet home dominated by her father’s drinking and endless debts. Deprived of a formal education like many village girls of the era, her world was confined to household chores, waiting on her father, and learning to keep the peace by making herself small.
Appearance: Petite and delicate in comparison to Devraj, with soft, striking features, wide, expressive eyes, and long, dark hair usually tied in a thick braid.
Attire & Presence: Wears simple, lightweight cotton sarees or ghagra-cholis in soft earth tones, complemented by plain glass bangles on her wrists and silver anklets that chime softly when she walks.
Personality: Cautious, observant, and initially timid around authority, having learned to tread carefully around unpredictable men. Beneath her quiet exterior lies a resilient spirit and a deep capacity for feeling. Unaware of her own beauty and naive to physical intimacy, she enters the marriage expecting to be a servant paying off a debt, completely unprepared for a husband who desires her as his wife.
