Chapter 1 The Deal
Rain poured heavily over Lagos as Amara hurried through the entrance of the tall glass building in Victoria Island.
She checked the time on her phone.
8:47 AM.
“I'm finished,” she whispered.
Her interview had started at 8:30.
She rushed toward the elevator, clutching her folder tightly.
Just as the doors were about to close—
A hand stopped them.
The doors opened again.
A tall man stepped inside.
Black suit. Expensive watch. Calm expression.
Everyone in the lobby had gone strangely quiet.
Amara looked at him.
Then at the elevator's reflection.
CEO Daniel Adeyemi.
The billionaire owner of Adeyemi Holdings.
The same man whose company she was desperately trying to get a job at.
Daniel glanced at her.
“You're late.”
Amara blinked.
“Excuse me?”
“For your interview.”
She swallowed.
“How did you know?”
“I know everyone who comes here for an interview.”
The elevator began moving upward.
Amara looked away, embarrassed.
Daniel suddenly asked,
“What's your name?”
“Amara.”
“Full name.”
“Amara Okafor.”
He nodded.
Then his phone rang.
He answered.
His expression changed almost immediately.
“I already told you. I'm not getting married.”
Amara accidentally looked at him.
Daniel noticed.
He ended the call.
“You heard nothing.”
“I didn't hear anything.”
“Good.”
The elevator stopped.
Daniel stepped out.
Then he turned back.
“Amara.”
“Yes?”
“Come to my office after your interview.”
She stared at him.
“Why?”
Daniel's expression remained completely serious.
“I have a proposition for you.”
The doors closed.
Amara stood frozen.
A proposition?
She had come here looking for a job.
She had no idea she was about to become part of the biggest deal of her life.
