Leonor Baggins, una joven de 23 años, habitante de Borleside, vive una vida normal hasta que algo tan simple como ir por flores al bosque la lleva a toparse con una cueva, la cual, a simple vista, parece bastante normal. Sin saber que se trata de la Cueva Vespersie, por pura curiosidad se adentra para explorarla. Después de un largo recorrido intentando encontrar la salida, por fin logra conseguirlo. Pero no la que lleva de regreso a Borleside, sino la que conduce a Nocturius, una ciudad habitada por vampiros. La llegada de una humana a la ciudad amenaza con que su más grande secreto sea revelado, lo que lleva a que Consius tome la decisión de ordenar su ejecución a mano de Alaric Perckinson. Tras el encuentro de Leonor y Alaric, él empieza a cuestionarse su presencia, despertando curiosidad por saber quién es y de dónde viene.
