Summary

“CLEAR!” I shout as I put the defibrillator pads on the patient's chest. Their body flinches with the shock, but the piercing sound of the flatline continues. “CLEAR!” I yell again, this time more desperate, but even as I try my hardest to focus, those wounds on his chest are too long to be from the slash of a blade, yet too deep to be from a bear's wound- something that I have never seen before. It makes this all the more terrifying, and for once in my 40 years living and 19 of them being a doctor, have I ever seen such wounds like this….

Chapter 1

I was walking back from work the smell of stale hospital coffee and that tasteless jello, which I'm surprised the patients even stomach clutches onto my clothes like a second skin as I buried my nose into the neck of my scarf, which smells more like cucumbers my cat than anything, giving me a sense of warmth as the raging snow passes past my ears making my ears feel like ice

“...at this rate I might get frostbite…”

I murmur to myself which i might at this point it might just happen as i continue to walk through this dreadful storm through the showering snow i see three figures walk in the distance the snow is too loud to hear anything but well again it might just be my age catching up to me but as I get closer closer my gaze goes to the snow beneath them its no longer pure white its stained crimson red at that relaxation i rush forward

“Hey, are you alright?!”

I yell out as I get closer, and as I do, I see the three figures on the left: a girl no older than 16 caramel colored hair in two braided twin tails and hazel eyes, her glasses lopsided on her face, the lenses cracked, and those freckles all over her face her clothes were tattered ripped in places that were no fashion trend and stained with blood.

The figure on the right is Dion, my nephew. His scruffy black hair and his usual smile and sparkling light blue eyes, now filled with terror, I have never seen that rock band shirt I gave him for his 15th birthday is now ripped to shreds, bites on his skin bigger than I have ever seen before, and not from any alligator

But that's not what really caught my eye

It was the third figure in the middle being held up by them both, who looked evenworse thann the other two. I couldn’t even make out their face; it was ruined with claw marks, deep cuts that had torn through his tissue and muscles, and giant claw marks on his chest from the collar.

Just what had happened?

What was the cause?

And what did it?

But I had no time to dwell on those thoughts. The boy in the middle coughed, crimson staining the pure white snow like paint splashing on a blank canvis it paoluting the air with the faint hint of iron and copper, like a part of him had broken off as if his body was breaking apart.
