A Love With Nowhere to Go

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

Don't read this if you've never loved someone you had to lose. Somewhere between again and never again, I made the mistake of thinking they meant the same thing. Six poems. One name. No resolution.

Burning, Again

You are a hot ball of fire

on an invisible elastic band,

always flying away,

always snapping back

toward me.

Always tethered.

Always aiming

for the softest place.

My poor heart.

You leave it gaping,

a little red mouth

where something used to be,

and I learn, slowly,

how to close it.

You are cruel like that.

Kind, too.

You give me just enough time

to forget the shape of the wound,

just enough time

to believe I am healing,

before you come back

burning.

And I let you.

I don’t know how long

you will stay this time.

I don’t know

how long before the band

pulls you away again.

I only know

that somewhere between

your leaving

and your returning,

my heart has learned

to wait for the impact.

jo987_123: The story could be longer, the ending feels like you've missed the last episode of a series that is never going to be shown again and no recording of it exists anywhere. Vampire: Great story. Clear plot line and very interesting. Characters are lovely and well made. Amazing writing skills and grammar. Only thing that was a little bit too much is the repetition but I guess it's a writing style? Anyways I love it definitely recommend it!
