Chapter 1 — The Girl Who Never Stopped Smiling

The clock on the wall showed 2:17 a.m.

The hospital corridors were almost silent.

Almost.

The faint sound of footsteps echoed against the marble floor while the fluorescent lights above flickered occasionally. Somewhere in the distance, a monitor kept beeping at a steady rhythm.

I stood outside the operation theatre, staring at the file in my hands.

Patient: Confidential.

Condition: Critical.

Risk: Extremely High.

I read the same page for the fourth time.

It didn't change.

Neither did the knot in my stomach.

I was shocked i did the receptionist gave me this file ,

I thought it was a mistake maybe it was for someone else, suddenly someone called me

“Dr. Anaya.”

I looked up.

The hospital director stood a few feet away, accompanied by two senior doctors.

“You'll lead the operation.”

For a moment, I thought I'd heard him wrong.

“Me?”

He nodded.

I just stood in confusion ,when director said

“You've handled complicated cases before. The board has approved your appointment.”

I looked toward the senior surgeon standing beside him.

Dr. Armaan.

One of the most experienced surgeons in the hospital.

I asked the director if they just wanted me to assist.

I stared Dr .Armaan.

I waited.

He didn't say anything.

Instead, he closed the file in his hands.

“I won't be part of this operation.”

The corridor suddenly felt colder.

“Sir?”

“I said I won't be the part of this surgery "

“But this is one of the most complicated cases we've had this year.”

“I know.”

“Then why—”

“Because,” he interrupted, “if you think you're capable of handling it, you should handle it yourself.”

He walked away.

I watched him disappear around the corner.

My fingers tightened around the file.

Something about this case wasn't right.

The patient wasn't just another patient.

He was one of the hospital's biggest shareholders.

And somehow, everyone seemed terrified of making a mistake.

Their one mistake could change their life.

I looked through the glass doors of the operation theatre.

Bright white lights.

Sterile instruments.

A table waiting for someone whose life would soon be placed in my hands.

I took a slow breath.

You wanted to become a doctor.

This is what it means.

The director said.

I straightened my coat.

“Fine,” I whispered.

“I , need to think about it

The director said then meet you tomorrow

I replied: Ahh it,s too early i need some time director

He smiled and went from there saying meet you tomorrow.

Anaya was confused weather it was an opportunity or she was going to cought into a trouble...

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
