Chapter 1
I couldn't stop staring.
Everyone was staring.
My face was burning, and heart thumping.
His dark eyes and thick black hair complemented his fair skin, with the slightest colour of bronze.
His shirt fitted his muscles so well, every flexion of his bicep could be seen when he moved. His lean abdomen and well fitted trousers showcased him to be a man of eloquent taste.
"I said, get the bloody hell out of my class!"
I stood in my place, shifitng my weight from one leg to another, hands behind my back to show the smallest ounce of respect and modesty.
"I'm sorry, sir." I mumbled, looking down at my phone.
Mr. Adarsh stood in front of the board, glaring at me, jaw clenched.
If this was his reaction to catching me on my phone, I was praying to gods above that he wouldn't come to my desk and glance at my phone.
It brightly lit with erotic sentences that only Satan from hell would approve.
"What the hell," he said calmly, with a piercing gaze, "should I do with your goddamn apology!" he yelled.
The deep gritful voice rumbled the class.
The front benchers jumped in their seats. Everyone looked at me with fear in their eyes.
It's the same look that the civilians of district 12 looked at Katniss with. The fear of not knowing what will happen in her future - considering the inexperience of the Games.
Except, here the Games was that Mr. Adarsh was our new advanced Biology teacher. And this was the first time we saw his temper.
"I mean, the audacity you have to irate me within ten minutes of my time in this school!" he roared.
I should have specified. He's super new. Like, he enetered the class ten minutes with a straight line on his lips, instead of a humble welcoming smile.
"Did you even listen to the five rules I just said?" he asked, more calmer this time. "I explained it in simple English too. Didn't I?" he peered at the suck-ups sitting in the front bench, who nodded their head too aggressively to my liking -- to avoid even the slightest misconception that they were on side.
No one ever is.
"I am speaking to you," he said, almost in disbelif at the lack of response from my side.
"I did, sir."
He took one step forward.
My heart skipped a beat.
He stayed, in a wide stance, pocketing his big hands into his pocets. His shirt rolled up just enough to show the bluish-green veins against his thick forearms.
My hands wouldn't even close around them.
Imagine how long his fingers must be.
Fuck. I should stop reading smut.
"Then, tell me rule number one," he instructed, a frown etched between his well shaped eyebrows and strong sharp nose. His plump dark-pink lips were closed. They looked smooth.
His skin was so fair and clear.
"Um..."I hesitated.
He took another step forward, hands still in pocket. My face was on fucking fire.
"I'm sorry sir, I wasn't paying attention," I said, with a quivering voice. Forty-five people were staring, and one very intimidating, good-looking middle-aged man was reprimanding me over a super tiny mistake.
I looked up for a second, to share my humility.
Our eyes met.
I stared for a second too long. A stare way past humility. It could be read as arrogance with that split second.
His eyes were sharp and focused.
The silence prolonged.
"What's your name?" he asked.
There was pin-drop silence. No one dared to take a breath -- including me.
I gazed at the explicit description of nudity on my phone. After a beat, "Nyra."
"What?"his frown deepened, inching his neck slightly forward. His jaw was set. He was so, so angry.
"Nyra!" I said louder.
His expression didn't halter a second.
My hands started to shake slightly. I've been standing for almost ten minutes.
I dared to look up again. This time, my vision blurred and heart in my throat.
His expression still didn't change. He was a cruel man.
"Meet me in my office during lunch hours."
I nodded with humility.
He turned around swiftly, slowly removing a hand from his pocket, and uncapping the marker. He let the cap fly to the ground. As he lifted his arm to write, his broad and well-built back faced us.
I sat in my seat and looked down into my lap, letting a single cold drop of tear fall straight into my palm.
I didn't look up for the rest of the class.
