Chapter 1: An ordinary day
It was an ordinary day at Tsukiyomi Academy. Akira was walking toward the Academy with confident steps. He greeted the people he encountered in the courtyard with a simple, "Good morning," and chatted with them briefly. He knew the people around him very well. And they knew him too. After all, Akira was very popular among the students.
He arrived in front of the school and looked up at the Academy. As always, it was magnificent. It was an academy where ordinary people had no place.
He entered the building and slowly climbed the stairs. He arrived in front of Class 2-4. As usual, the classroom was so loud that he could hear the students from the hallway.
He opened the door and entered the classroom.
"Good morning, everyone."
A few students greeted him in return. He then sat down beside Haru, who was playing on his phone.
Without taking his eyes off his phone, Haru asked,
"You saw the news, didn't you?"
Akira thought for a moment.
"Which one?" he asked.
Haru looked at him curiously.
"How many do you know?" he asked.
"Hmm... Four, I think," Akira replied.
Haru asked in surprise,
"Did all of them happen last night?"
Akira nodded.
Haru turned off his phone, leaned back, and sighed.
Akira looked at him as if to say, "You're the same as always."
Then he checked his phone and saw a message from Yuki.
"The problem has been solved."
He stared at the message for a while. He didn't know how Yuki had solved the problem, but he wasn't curious either. He knew how Yuki handled things, and it was likely that he had used the same method again.
Akira turned off his phone and let out a small sigh.
Everything was so ordinary.
For nearly 400 years...
He had begun to get bored. But he was quite content with this peaceful and quiet routine. Everything was proceeding smoothly, just as it was supposed to.
His thoughts were interrupted by the teacher entering the classroom.
"Good morning, everyone."
The teacher entered the classroom and walked toward his desk.
He looked at everyone one by one and began the lesson. He gave Akira an indifferent glance.
But Akira knew that he was the student who interacted with the teacher the most in that classroom.
They attended meetings outside of school, and the teacher was one of the elders Akira could turn to for help. However, Yamada couldn't let anyone know that he was Akira's teacher because their relationship was supposed to remain secret.
Chika and Yamada were the only vampire teachers at the Academy. Their purpose was to help vampire students, deal with incidents involving them, and provide them with secret privileges.
Both of them were extremely skilled at what they did.
Akira was satisfied with this arrangement because there were times when he couldn't handle certain matters simply by acting as a student. Having teachers on their side made him feel more at ease, especially since he had many responsibilities.
Akira was the secret vampire president of the second-year students. All second-year vampires were under his supervision.
But the first-year students worried Akira because their president was Yuki.
Yuki was childish, energetic, and sarcastic. Because of this, Akira couldn't help but worry about him.
The third-year vampire president, Rui, was the complete opposite of Yuki. He was disciplined and very serious. Akira often consulted him about various matters. He was someone Akira could trust.
Yuki and Rui often argued.
Akira was used to it.
And so, the day passed without any trouble.
Of course, Akira didn't know that one day, he would long for days like these.
The final bell rang, and the students gathered their belongings and headed toward the dormitories.
Akira calmly packed up his things.
"Another trouble-free day," Haru said happily.
"Yeah, it was," Akira replied.
They went down to the school courtyard and began walking toward their dormitories.
Just then, they heard a voice from behind them.
"Akira!! Haru!!"
Akira knew that voice very well.
The owner of that energetic voice was none other than Yuki.
Yuki caught up with them.
"Today was so boring again," he said.
Fuyuya, who had just caught up with them as well, said,
"You slept through the entire day in class."
Yuki immediately replied,
"No! I was just trying a method to listen to the lessons better."
Realizing that an argument was about to break out, Akira stepped in.
"Yes, it was a trouble-free day, and I want it to stay that way. Let's get to the dormitories as soon as possible."
"Akira-chan, you're just like always," Yuki said.
Akira didn't respond and continued walking silently.
They arrived at the dormitory, and Akira immediately went to his room.
He dropped himself onto the bed, took a deep breath, and relaxed.
Then he took a shower.
Afterward, he sat on his bed. As he dried his hair with the towel in his hand, he noticed that he had received a message on his phone.
It was a message that would change everything.
It read:
"Emergency meeting. Eight o'clock tonight, at the usual place."
Akira was surprised.
This was the first time he had received a message like this in four years.
He was very curious about what had happened.
He was also curious about how the vampire presidents, Yuki and Rui, would react to the message.
He deleted the message and turned off his phone.
A smile appeared on his face.
He couldn't wait for eight o'clock that evening...
