Summary

Max has his life figured out—or at least, that's what he'd like everyone to believe. He's a 24-year-old car salesman trying to survive exhausting workdays, an increasingly chaotic home life, and his own tendency to overthink absolutely everything. Then, on an ordinary trip to a small coffee shop, he meets someone. Charlie is a 22-year-old guy in his senior year of college who works at the café despite coming from a wealthy family. He's charming, sarcastic, independent, and apparently has a talent for making Max forget how to speak. What starts as an embarrassing crush slowly becomes something neither of them expects. With Savannah, Max's chaotic roommate and longtime friend, constantly interfering, Max and Charles gradually move from awkward strangers to genuine friends. But friendship becomes complicated when Max realizes he's fallen first. And while Charlie takes much longer to understand what he feels, when he finally does, he falls harder. Between college, work, family expectations, messy friendships, terrible flirting, questionable advice, and two idiots trying to figure out what they mean to each other, Max and Charlie discover that sometimes the person who completely disrupts your life is the one you never knew you needed.

Chapter 1

Max walked into the coffee shop, exhausted from his day. Fuck being a salesman.

With hazy breaths and dark circles under his eyes, he reached the counter. A blonde woman greeted him, a green apron around her waist and her hair in a neat bun inside a hair net.

“And what brings you here?”, she said, a not-so-fake-smile plastered on her face. She looked....kind.

“Uh.... do you guys have the Java chip?”

“Oh, I wish. Maybe we’d still have a thousand customers a day if we did. But I’m sorry, we don’t. You can find that in the Starbucks down the street. They steal all the customers either way”, she chuckled, but it didn’t reach her eyes this time.

“Okay, uhm, I’ll just have a latte, then.”

“Oh, honey, thank you for not leaving. Seriously, we needed this. Charlie!”, she called out.

Max waited patiently, leaning onto the counter as the so called guy walked out from the back. And suddenly he was losing his breath.

“Yeah? What’s up, Jill?”, he grinned. For absolutely no reason. Fuck, what was happening to Max? He was standing up straight now, his posture stiff. Too stiff. His face burned with a flush he hadn’t felt after seeing someone since high school.

“Latte order.”

“Alright, go relax, Jilly.”

Nicknames....Max felt like he was on some Bridget Jones type shit.

His heart was hammering as the latte guy finally met his eyes. They were brown, amber, maybe? His lashes were dark and long and his curls, his extremely perfect golden brown curls fell over his temples.

His lip piercing looked like it’d been bitten on way too many times.

Who on Earth has ever been able to pull off a goatee? This guy. “Charles”, his name tag read.

“So, what can I do for you, handsome?”, Charles looked right at Max, leaned over the counter with his chin in his hand and grinned.

Max knew he was blushing. He wanted the floor to open up and swallow him whole. Why was this guy giving him a second gay awakening?

His breath came in short gasps that he was hoping Charles wouldn’t notice. But of course, when does life ever listen to Max Verstappen?

“Uh....”, he stammered. That was so unlike him.

“Oh no, honey, you alright?”, Charles’ hand drifted to Max’s chest, his expression changing to one of slight worry and extreme flirtation.

“Fuck, uhm....”, Max stammered again. He hated himself right now. He stepped back, suddenly.

“You alright?”, Charles stepped back as well, his voice not that honeyed now, but still so fucking deep.

He didn’t flirt when someone was feeling this particularly gay all of a sudden.

“Yeah, uhm, I have to go...”, and with that, Max walked out.

His legs were faster than....well, I can only think of a tortoise.

Max’s POV:

Fuck, fuck, fuck. What is wrong with me? I’ve never freaked out like that. I just, I saw him and my mind went blank except for how good he looked and his tanned skin and that edible fucking mouth. The gorgeous curls. Who looks like that?

I unlock the door to my house and walk inside, the smell of the candles I always keep filling my senses.

I lock myself inside my bedroom, pulling out the toy I’m still extremely ashamed to use out of the drawer.

♪♪♪

My clothes are somewhere on the floor as I bite my lip to stifle a sound that could wake up my neighbors if it wanted to.

My hand moves between my legs that are spread so far wide that it almost hurts to hold myself in this position. But it hurts so good.

The vibrator is buried deep inside me as I drag it in and out slowly, hitting that spot every fucking time. I have to put my face into a pillow to stop myself from moaning out loud. This was pathetic. But it felt so the opposite.

My cock leaks pre come onto the sheets, and I don’t even care because my ass is too busy clenching around the vibrator, my teeth digging into the pillow.

My mind is a flash of things, sales calls, boss yelling, coffee, coffee shop...guy.

“Fuck...”, a soft sound escapes my mouth completely against my will.

My hand pushes the toy deeper into my ass, and I moan hard into the pillow. Charlie’s gorgeous curls flash before my eyes, his lips....what they would feel like instead of my hand right about now. What that lip piercing would look like on my cock.

My cock jerks against the sheets, leaking harder now. I grip it in my hand, stroking hard until I come thinking about a random guy named Charles who had the audacity to touch my chest when he knew that I was already going crazy.

♪♪♪

I can’t stop thinking about him. What is wrong with me? It’s like high school all over again, the only difference is that my dick’s bigger and I know I like sucking dick.

Basically, I’m gay. And I’ve known that for quite a while now.

That reminds me, I have to change my sheets.
