CHAPTER ONE: TWO QUEENS, ONE CROWN 👑
The first Monday of the semester began with the kind of excitement that could be felt from the university gate.
Students poured into the campus carrying bags, dragging suitcases, laughing with old friends, searching for lecture halls, and complaining about how quickly the holidays had ended.
But there was something else everyone seemed to be waiting for.
Two names.
Beyoncé.
Rihanna.
Almost every returning student knew them.
They were not ordinary students. They were the daughters of wealthy families, and their arrival on campus always created attention. They dressed elegantly, moved with confidence, and seemed to have a talent for turning an ordinary day into an event.
But the most interesting thing about them was not their wealth.
It was their rivalry.
Nobody could remember exactly when it had started.
Some said it began during their first year when both girls were competing for the attention of the same group of students. Others believed it started after a university social event where Beyoncé received more applause than Rihanna.
Whatever the truth was, one thing had become clear.
Neither girl wanted to be second.
And this semester, the battle was about to become bigger.
---
Beyoncé stepped out of her car at the university's main entrance.
She adjusted her handbag, looked at the crowd around her, and smiled.
A few students immediately recognized her.
"That's Beyoncé!"
"She's back!"
"Look at her!"
Beyoncé heard the whispers but pretended not to.
She had become used to attention.
Her best friend, Maya, hurried after her.
"You know you enjoy this attention," Maya teased.
Beyoncé laughed.
"Who says I don't?"
Maya shook her head.
"You haven't even entered the campus properly and you're already behaving like the queen."
Beyoncé stopped walking.
"The queen?"
Maya smiled mischievously.
"Yes. The University Queen."
Beyoncé raised an eyebrow.
"I thought everyone already knew that."
They both laughed.
But their laughter stopped when a beautiful car slowly entered through the university gate.
Students began turning their heads.
Maya's expression changed.
"Oh no."
Beyoncé looked toward the approaching car.
Her smile disappeared.
"Rihanna."
The car stopped.
The door opened.
Rihanna stepped out.
She looked around the campus as though she owned the entire place.
Several students immediately gathered around her.
"Rihanna!"
"Welcome back!"
"How was your holiday?"
Rihanna smiled and greeted them.
Then her eyes met Beyoncé's.
For several seconds, neither girl spoke.
The crowd around them became unusually quiet.
It was as if everyone knew something was about to happen.
Rihanna finally smiled.
"Beyoncé."
Beyoncé returned the smile.
"Rihanna."
Maya whispered, "Here we go."
Rihanna walked toward them.
"I hope you had a good holiday."
"I did," Beyoncé replied. "Very good."
"That's nice."
"How about you?"
"Perfect."
Beyoncé nodded.
"Good."
The conversation sounded polite.
But everyone could feel the tension underneath it.
Rihanna looked at Beyoncé from head to toe.
"You look nice."
"So do you."
"Thank you."
Another awkward silence followed.
Then Rihanna smiled.
"I hope you're ready for this semester."
Beyoncé's eyes narrowed slightly.
"Ready for what?"
Rihanna leaned closer.
"The competition."
Beyoncé laughed.
"What competition?"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about."
Maya sighed.
Rihanna continued.
"Last semester was only the beginning."
Beyoncé folded her arms.
"And who told you there was a competition?"
Rihanna smiled.
"Everyone knows."
She turned around and walked away.
Beyoncé watched her.
Maya immediately whispered, "Please don't start."
Beyoncé smiled.
"She started it."
---
Later that morning, the university cafeteria was packed.
Students were discussing the two girls.
Some supported Beyoncé.
Others supported Rihanna.
A group of boys sitting at a nearby table were laughing about the situation.
Among them was Daniel, one of the most popular students on campus.
He was intelligent, confident, and known for his calm personality.
Beside him sat Alex, his close friend.
Alex watched the crowd.
"Those two are going to cause trouble this semester."
Daniel laughed.
"They always do."
"Which one do you prefer?"
Daniel looked at him.
"Prefer?"
"Yes."
"Neither."
Alex laughed.
"You're lying."
"I'm serious."
Before Alex could answer, someone approached their table.
It was Rihanna.
She smiled at Daniel.
"Hi."
Daniel looked up.
"Hi, Rihanna."
"How was your holiday?"
"Good."
Rihanna sat down briefly.
"I heard you were doing an internship during the break."
"I was."
"Interesting."
Alex watched them silently.
Rihanna continued talking to Daniel, but after a few minutes, she noticed someone standing behind her.
Beyoncé.
Beyoncé looked at Rihanna, then at Daniel.
"Am I interrupting?"
Rihanna smiled.
"Not at all."
Beyoncé pulled out a chair.
"Good."
She sat beside Daniel.
Alex nearly laughed.
He knew exactly what was happening.
Rihanna looked at Beyoncé.
"So, how are you?"
"I'm fine."
"Good."
Daniel looked between them.
"You two are friends, right?"
Both girls answered at the same time.
"Of course."
Alex coughed to hide his laughter.
Daniel smiled.
"Okay."
Beyoncé turned toward him.
"So, Daniel, are you attending the welcome party on Friday?"
"I think so."
"You should come."
Rihanna immediately added, "Definitely. It's going to be fun."
Beyoncé looked at her.
"I was talking to Daniel."
"And I was agreeing with you."
"Nobody asked you to."
Rihanna smiled.
"Nobody had to."
Daniel looked at Alex.
Alex shrugged.
"Don't look at me. I'm enjoying this."
---
That afternoon, rumors spread across campus.
Apparently, Beyoncé and Rihanna were already competing over Daniel.
By evening, another rumor appeared.
There was going to be a major university social event at the end of the month, and students were already discussing who deserved to be crowned the most influential female student.
The unofficial title had existed for years.
University Queen.
But this year, everyone knew who would be fighting for it.
Beyoncé.
Rihanna.
And neither intended to lose.
---
That evening, Beyoncé sat with Maya outside the student center.
"You saw what happened today," Maya said.
Beyoncé smiled.
"Rihanna wanted to embarrass me."
"You think everything is about Rihanna."
"Because everything is about Rihanna."
Maya laughed.
"You're both exactly the same."
"No, we're not."
"You both want attention."
"That's not true."
"You both want the University Queen title."
Beyoncé paused.
"Okay, that's true."
"And you both like Daniel."
Beyoncé looked away.
"I never said I liked him."
Maya smiled.
"You didn't have to."
Before Beyoncé could respond, Daniel walked past them.
He stopped.
"Hey."
Beyoncé smiled.
"Hi."
Daniel looked at Maya.
"Can I borrow Beyoncé for a minute?"
Maya immediately stood.
"Of course."
Beyoncé looked surprised.
Daniel led her a short distance away.
"I wanted to ask you something."
"What?"
"Are you coming to the library tomorrow?"
"Why?"
"I need help with a project."
Beyoncé smiled.
"You need my help?"
"Maybe."
"Maybe?"
Daniel laughed.
"Okay. I definitely need your help."
She smiled.
"Then I'll come."
"Great."
For a moment, they simply looked at each other.
There was something different about the way Daniel looked at her.
Beyoncé felt her confidence disappear for just a second.
Then Daniel smiled.
"I'll see you tomorrow."
"Okay."
He walked away.
Beyoncé stood there watching him.
Maya appeared beside her.
"So..."
Beyoncé turned.
"So what?"
Maya grinned.
"You like him."
Beyoncé rolled her eyes.
"Stop."
But she couldn't stop smiling.
---
Across the campus, Rihanna stood on the balcony of her hostel with her friend Tasha.
Tasha was watching the students below.
"Did you see Beyoncé with Daniel?"
Rihanna's smile disappeared.
"Yes."
"Are you worried?"
Rihanna laughed.
"Worried?"
She turned toward her friend.
"I'm not worried about Beyoncé."
"Then what are you going to do?"
Rihanna looked toward the distant student center.
"I'm going to make this semester unforgettable."
Tasha smiled.
"Because of Daniel?"
Rihanna shook her head.
"Because of everything."
She paused.
"The University Queen title belongs to me."
---
The next morning, the university woke up to a new rumor.
Someone had created an anonymous online poll asking students:
WHO DESERVES TO BE THE UNIVERSITY QUEEN?
Beyoncé or Rihanna?
Within hours, thousands of students had voted.
The competition had officially begun.
And neither girl knew that the battle would become far more complicated than a simple popularity contest.
Because before the semester ended, friendships would be tested, hearts would be confused, secrets would emerge, and both queens would discover that winning the crown might come at a price.
For now, however, there were only two names on everyone's lips.
Beyoncé.
Rihanna.
And one question echoed across the university:
Who would become the true University Queen?
