Letters I Turned Into Poems

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

A September collection of original poetry, written one day, one feeling, one thought at a time. Some things are easier to write than to say. So, for thirty days, I will turn those unspoken feelings into poems. Thirty days. Thirty poems. Thirty pieces of a heart, each holding its own story, silence, memory, longing, or truth. Read them as letters I never sent. A new original poem every day throughout September. ✒️

What You Saw

The thing I read:

‎The day I met you...

‎You looked like the sunrise after a long night,

‎The moon in a dark sky.

‎You were just the perfect sight.

‎You seemed shy and I wasn’t surprised.

‎When I looked in your eyes, I had a glimpse of us, you didn’t understand why I smiled.

‎I wished time could freeze,

‎I wished I could hold you in my sleeves.

‎But I felt out of your league.

‎I just came from a basketball game, I was dirty and you were clean,

‎ Just like my soul and yours .

‎I was dressed in black, you in white.

‎It made me question “Am I meant to be yours?

‎ So in my head after the short sunny sky came a heavy storm, and a sleepless night.

‎I just needed to hear your voice tell me “let me be yours tonight

‎The way I replied:

‎Maybe you saw something

‎I never thought was there,

‎a moment, a smile,

‎a feeling in the air.

‎I don't know what you saw

‎when you looked into my eyes,

‎or why that little moment

‎felt bigger in your mind.

‎Two strangers crossed paths,

one dressed in black, one in white,

‎and somehow you turned

‎that moment into a stormy night.

‎Maybe it wasn't meant to be anything,

‎maybe it was just a scene,

‎a small moment in time

‎that somehow felt different.

‎And maybe that's enough,

‎some moments don't need a reason,

‎they just happen,

‎and stay with you for a season.
