The First Call
Chapter One
It was 8 p.m., and, like every evening, Kevin was taking song requests and chatting with his listeners. The studio was quiet except for the low hum of the equipment and the music playing softly through his headphones. The small red light above the studio door glowed steadily, letting him know he was live.
One of the listeners asked him about his love life, and Kevin was doing his best to escape the uncomfortable question.
“Umm... let's just say it's not going as great as this show.”
The listener laughed, said a few more words, and ended the call.
The requests kept coming, and so did the questions. Kevin answered them casually, just like he did every evening. Everything felt normal.
It was 8:52 p.m.
Yes, Kevin remembered the time.
It was the time that caller called him for the first time.
Kevin answered the call like any other. From the other side came a deep voice.
“Hey, Kevin! You’re from Hawthorne, right?”
For a moment, there was nothing but silence in the room.
Kevin quickly recovered and tried to awkwardly answer.
“Oh, umm... yeah. I used to live there when I was a kid, but I don't remember much about my time there.”
He tried to end the call, but the caller seemed persistent.
“Which school did you attend there?”
Kevin glanced at the red light above the door. He was still on air.
He finally told the caller that he couldn't share his personal details with listeners. That seemed to be enough for the caller.
The caller quickly replied, “Oh, no problem,” and ended the call.
For a moment, Kevin couldn't understand what had just happened.
The studio suddenly felt strangely quiet.
Was it a prank? Was someone playing a joke on him?
But who could it be?

This is a good start. I'm interested in what will happen next.
