Chapter 1
Resurrection of the Fallen
Someone used magic- deep, dark magic to resurrect Sunnydale and past demons that were defeated, such as the Master, the Anointed, Billy Palmer’s Lucky Nineteen, the Order of Taraka, Glory, Warren, Caleb, the First- all of Buffy’s worst enemies that she had slain.
Now, everyone’s fighting, but Lucky Nineteen brought Billy to make their nightmares come true, and Buffy’s back to being a Vampire from the first season of BTVS (Episode: Nightmares Season 1). Only this time, she’s a Vampire forever because Rack will use his powerful spell to keep her a demon.
Buffy just recently found out that Giles betrayed her: Having her think that Spike’s still dead and not helping Angel in L.A., plus lying to Spike about her not wanting to help them, with Fred not helping them save Fred from becoming Illyria the God.
Now, Spike and Angel are mad at her, thinking that she didn’t want to help, but that’s not true. She would have helped if it wasn’t for Giles lying and saying that she didn’t.
It’s too late; Sunnydale’s back and all of the Scoobies are fighting. One day, Giles will have to suck up courage and call in reinforcements like Wesley, Angel, Lorne, and Spike. He’ll have to tell Spike and Angel the truth about Buffy. They will be angry at Giles for making them think that she didn’t want to help when she could have. Plus, once they get there, they will be shocked to see Buffy as a Vampire.
Also, Buffy will kill some innocent people BEFORE she gets the soul, and she’ll feel really horrible about it afterwards. Plus later, something happens with Dawn’s Key powers that will send her, Buffy, Angel, Spike, and Wesley to Buffy’s past in Season 5 right when Glory shows up. Buffy can’t stop the OTHER PAST her from dying and can’t stop the other PAST Willow from resurrecting the PAST HER. Future Spike and future Buffy are going to be together. They are going to date, and YES, Wesley will be involved. He’ll show up later in the story. Gunn and Illyria died, though, in the L.A. battle, so they won’t appear in this story.
Chapter One: The Night Sunnydale Breathed Again
Sunnydale wasn’t supposed to exist anymore. It had collapsed into the earth, swallowed whole, sealed by sacrifice and destiny. But destiny had been rewritten.
A pulse of dark magic rippled across California like a shockwave. It wasn’t subtle. It wasn’t careful. It was the kind of spell that left scorch marks on reality itself. And when the smoke cleared, Sunnydale stood again — rebuilt, restored, and wrong.
Graveyards refilled themselves. Old lairs reformed like wounds reopening. And from those wounds stepped the enemies Buffy Summers had already defeated once.
The Master. The Anointed. The Order of Taraka. Glory. Warren. Caleb. The First’s manifestations. Billy Palmer’s Lucky Nineteen — and Billy himself, carrying nightmares like weapons.
And at the center of the spell, smiling with the satisfaction of someone who had finally gotten the chaos he wanted, stood Rack.
He didn’t resurrect Buffy. He reshaped her.
Buffy Summers — the Slayer, the girl who died twice, the woman who saved the world — opened her eyes beneath Sunnydale’s resurrected cemetery soil. But they weren’t Slayer eyes anymore. They glowed gold, hungry and cold.
She was a vampire again. And this time, Rack’s spell ensured she would stay that way.
Buffy’s Awakening
Buffy clawed her way out of the earth, gasping even though she didn’t need to breathe. Her senses were sharper than they had ever been — every heartbeat in Sunnydale echoed like a drum. Every fear tasted like sugar.
She staggered to her feet, confused, furious, and starving.
And then she remembered.
Billy Palmer. Nightmares made real. The first time she had become a vampire — a temporary curse.
This wasn’t temporary.
Rack’s voice slithered into her mind like smoke. “No soul for you this time, Slayer. You’re mine.”
Buffy screamed — not in fear, but in rage — and the sound cracked the air.
The Betrayal
Hours later, after the first wave of chaos, Buffy found Giles.
He wasn’t fighting. He wasn’t strategizing. He was standing alone in the ruins of the Magic Box, staring at a broken teacup like it was the last piece of sanity he had left.
Buffy’s voice was low, dangerous. “Why did you lie to them?”
Giles froze.
“You told Spike I didn’t want to help him save Fred. You told Angel I refused to come to L.A. You let them think I abandoned them.”
Giles swallowed hard. “Buffy… I thought I was protecting you. You had just returned from—”
“Don’t.” Her eyes flashed. “You didn’t protect me. You isolated me.”
She stepped closer, and Giles finally saw what she had become. His breath caught.
“Dear lord… Buffy…”
“Yeah,” she said bitterly. “Welcome to the new me.”
Spike and Angel Learn the Truth
In Los Angeles, Spike and Angel were already furious — at Buffy, at each other, at the universe. But when Giles finally called, voice shaking, everything changed.
“Spike… Angel… I lied to you both. Buffy never refused to help. She never turned her back on you. I told you she did.”
Silence.
Then Spike’s voice, low and dangerous: “You’d better start explaining before I decide to take a trip to Sunnydale and rearrange your face.”
Angel didn’t threaten. He didn’t yell. He simply said, “Where is she?”
Giles hesitated. “That’s… the other part. Buffy is… she’s been turned.”
The line went dead.
Spike and Angel were already on their way.
The Scoobies Fight for Their Lives
Sunnydale erupted into battle. Demons from every era of Buffy’s life swarmed the streets. The Scoobies fought with everything they had — Willow, Tara, Xander, Dawn, Anya, even Andrew — but they were overwhelmed.
And then Lucky Nineteen arrived.
Billy Palmer stepped forward, eyes glowing with nightmare energy. “Time to play again.”
Nightmares spilled into reality — personal, intimate, cruel. The Scoobies were forced to fight their worst fears while also fighting resurrected enemies.
And somewhere in the chaos, Buffy — soulless, starving, furious — lost control.
She killed. Not monsters. People.
When she realized what she had done, she collapsed to her knees, shaking. Even without a soul, guilt tore through her like fire.
Dawn’s Power Breaks Reality
Dawn, terrified and desperate, reached for the Key energy inside her. She didn’t mean to unleash it. She didn’t mean to tear open time.
But she did.
A burst of green light swallowed Buffy, Dawn, Spike, Angel, and — arriving just in time to be caught in the blast — Wesley.
They landed in the past.
Season 5. Right as Glory first arrived.
And standing across from them was Past Buffy, alive and human, unaware of the future that awaited her.
Future Buffy stared at her human self — the version of her who still had hope, who still had a soul, who still believed she could save everyone.
“I can’t stop her from dying,” Future Buffy whispered. “I can’t stop any of it.”
Spike stepped beside her, steady and certain. “We’ll face it together, love. This time, you’re not alone.”
Wesley, bruised but determined, nodded. “And we will fix what we can.”
Angel looked between the two Buffys — the past and the future — and felt the weight of everything Giles had stolen from them.
The fight wasn’t over. It had only just begun.
