For some unknown reason, failure followed failure, leaving Jungkook with nary a single day of peace. From the moment he learned of his parents’ death, everything had changed irrevocably, not for the better, but for the worse. Because of this, not a day, not even an hour, went by without him being pointed at by his so-called „peers.”
Peers who looked at him with disgust, as if seeing something they believed shouldn’t exist. It was as if it were his fault his parents died in a fire when he was only five. Consequently, he was just a little boy back then, his life transformed into hell on earth in an instant.
It’s no wonder, then, that he’d long since lost track of how many foster homes he’d been in. It had become a routine for him, and he paid it no mind. Over time, he learned to live with it. Although it wasn’t an easy task given his current circumstances.
Jungkook didn’t know a day, night, or even a moment when he wouldn’t hear words blaming him for something he clearly hadn’t done. He was sick of it and wanted it to finally end. Maybe then they would understand that they were wrong about him, he secretly hoped.
After all, he had tried his best not to bother them, to fulfill their whims, so why did they continue to do it? He still couldn’t figure that out, no matter how hard he tried. But on that fateful day, he was fed up with it all, and the bitterness overflowed. It was no wonder he reacted the way he did; it was completely understandable.
„JUNGKOOK, HOW COULD YOU DO THIS? YOU PROMISED!,” Screamed the out-of-control woman he was currently with, her voice sounding like a broken record.
You’re probably wondering what was going on this time? Especially since, as Jungkook had mentioned earlier, he wasn’t one to go looking for trouble. He wasn’t one to whom problems came naturally, like in this case. Especially since no matter how much he tried to avoid them, there was no way he could avoid them.
Which, as we all know, was the saddest part of it all, and there was nothing he could do about it. No wonder, then, that no matter how many times he explained it, no one would believe him. And they only believed those who unabashedly abused him. In his opinion, that was, frankly, sick, but there was nothing he could do about it.
If his biological parents were still alive, things would probably be completely different. Therefore, they would definitely believe him, but unfortunately, they didn’t. Therefore, he was doomed from the start, and no one was willing to come to his aid. Because in their eyes he was just an orphan who had no right to object and should be grateful that they let her under their roof.
Which, honestly, really, really hurt him, but they didn’t care. To them, his feelings were completely unnecessary. To them, Jungkook was just a pawn to show how good-natured they were by taking someone like him in from the orphanage. And as everyone knows, it was just for show, so their reputation wouldn’t be tarnished.
So they did whatever it took to make things work out the way they planned. That was unfortunately the truth, but no one saw it, and even if they did, they shrugged it off and moved on. Apparently, they didn’t care and preferred to focus on something so trivial. They probably thought so because they didn’t even want to address it at all, because it was pointless.
„I didn’t start it!,” Jungkook yelled after a moment, unable to stand her rambling on about how bad he was and still was.
„Don’t raise your voice! I already believe you didn’t start it! You always say that, and I know how you are, so don’t talk back to me. Just go and apologize, and maybe he’ll forgive you!,” replied the woman whom Jungkook had just been about to call his stepmother, or whatever he called her, but now, after her words, he’d changed his mind.
„I’ll raise my voice as much as I want! And I’m not going to apologize to that bastard for constantly beating me and humiliating me in front of everyone!,” Jungkook roared, completely fed up with this woman’s refusal to open her eyes, to the idea that her sissy was the real one, not him, as she had always believed and probably would continue to believe.
„Now you’ve gone too far! You clearly need a good beating to understand your wrongdoings. Just let your father come back!,” she snapped, wagging her finger at him, and he didn’t care.
Because no matter how you looked at it, the man wasn’t his real father. So he wasn’t going to be afraid of him, just as he didn’t have to be afraid of her. When he was younger, he might have been afraid, but now it was completely different. He’d been more gullible then than now, when he was gaining more and more information with every passing moment. He also noticed that if something was going on, they’d immediately start moving.
As if they didn’t want anyone to discover where he was. Which was starting to make him think there was something to it, because normally they wouldn’t move around without a word. If they weren’t, they probably wouldn’t have done it, right? He couldn’t find any other explanation for their behavior, and that was the problem.
„Yeah, you stupid woman, you overreacted! And you’ll need a beating to make you realize you’re wrong! I’m leaving this fucked-up place I never intended to call home from the start! It’s best if I go back to where you took me, with that jerk you call your husband!,” Jungkook announced to her after a moment, heading for his pseudo-room.
A room that Jungkook wouldn’t even call a room, to be honest. He didn’t turn to her for a moment as he uttered those venomous words. That was because he’d already given up on her, because she probably thought she was doing him a disservice by taking him out of the orphanage.
However, she was dead wrong on that point, just like the rest of her damned family, including her husband. That’s why he couldn’t fathom how they even qualified as foster parents; it was beyond him. He just rolled his eyes, unable to listen to this shrill chatter any longer.
This woman didn’t understand that Jungkook was being abused, threatened, and beaten. Especially since he didn’t know the day, let alone the hour, when they would torment him again. With her son at the forefront, the leader of this entire gang of bullies. She probably thought her son was pure gold, an angel with an unshakable reputation.
In reality, he was a complete thug who couldn’t even do a simple math problem. It’s no wonder, then, that Jungkook had often wanted to end his life when he landed in the hospital, severely beaten, only to be saved out of spite. Although, in truth, he longed for death, which was his only salvation.
And the memory of the wound, now a nasty scar, still haunted him. At the time, if he remembered correctly, he was only fourteen years old. That’s because he hadn’t celebrated his own birthday in ages.
In fact, the last time Jungkook celebrated one, he was only five years old, if memory served him correctly. And that was a few months before that fire some degenerate started. Shortly after reaching his room, he slammed the door shut and quickly packed his belongings into his worn bag.
