No Way Home
We'll start with the basics. I'm Brooklyn's kid.
Call me Tony.
I won't be here often, don't get too excited I prefer to keep things brief. So get your finger food ready and enjoy the ride.
Welcome to the vast and tangled realm of Ever After, the legends you thought ended still echo in these walls.
If you're here, you've definitely heard of the infamous Raven Queen. 'Daughter of the Evil Queen". Yeah "the girl who shattered destiny itself" that one.
Raven single-handedly sparked a rebellion of choice, fate was up for debate it seems.
But this isn't Raven's story. Or any of her friends' either.
It's a warm, golden morning in the land of Ever After. All across the realm, every name known and unknown was either returning or stepping onto campus for the first time, ready to begin their next chapter at Ever After High.
This centuries-old high school has evolved, now offering advanced college courses, spellcraft enhancements, and the weight of new beginnings. This semester would be unlike any other.
Raiden+👾🧙🏻♂️🔮👑
I groaned loudly my lips curling into a pout. "Why can't I wake up in the morning like some princess? perfect hair, perfect face? Instead it feels like I spent the night wrestling a harpy...and I fucking lost." I grunted out the last part equally disappointed, and boyishly enraged.
Dareith, my little brother. Laughed next to me. He looked up from his breakfast, opening his mouth stuffed with oatmeal and dragon eggs, bantering on about something annoying, just enough to make my eyes roll.
"You only feel that way because you overdo it. You sleep at five in the morning, and wake up at five in the afternoon. It's a miracle your even conscience this early." Dareith was antagonizing me again his perfect blend of mockery and critique, something he prided himself on.
He tilted his head slightly, swallowed his food, then wiped his mouth with a tissue, he turned back to his plate, devouring the rest like a starved beast.
See, this was the gluttony they spoke of in the holy writ. I desperately, fought the urge to take a picture and use that shit for blackmail later.
My moment didn't last though, the only comeback I could muster was rolling my eyes again, he wasn't lying.
That schedule won't continue for long. Now that these "college courses" are rolling in.
I leaned back in the chair and took a shallow breath. My forehead tightened, anxiety drying out my throat. The thought of school creeping back into my chest again.
"High school, was rough for me. I hit puberty hard and so did my powers. I felt so...alienated. I just wasn't talking to people." I explained to Dareith, mumbling the last part. While he consumed his food viciously ignoring my monologue.
"Or more like, people weren't talking to me! no matter how much of a goody two shoes mom is. It doesn't make me, or 'us', any less a part of the 'Evil Queen bloodline." Expressing myself angirly to my brother, he nods his head eating his food in silent agreement.
Double edge sword. This kept a lot of people away, good and bad.
Before I could continue, the smell hit me.
Warm, sweet, savory - clapjacks stacked high, dragon eggs steaming, fruit glistening.
One piece of bacon even chirped at me in a tiny voice, way too cheerful about being eaten.
"Are you boys all packed?" a soft, deep voice rang from the hallway. Opposite, of the dinner table.
It was our father Dexter, King Charming.
He strode in from the hallway, standing tall graceful and masculine. Eyes blue and pleasant like the sky above.
Dark chocolate brown hair, that matched his teddy bear exterior.
He commanded the room without fully being in it yet. "Yes Father", we both spoke in unison.
He walked past me, placing his warm hand on my hair. Ruffling it, and laughing as he went. "You shouldn't talk with food in your mouth Raiden, it's bad manners son."
Sitting down on my left side, at the head of the table. He beckoned to a servant in the room with his hand, signaling to be fed. She hurried off without a word, down the hall. Moving way faster than she needed to.
The King's scent was strong, reminding me of vanilla, cinnamon, hints of sandalwood. A rich and creamy one, one you could fall asleep to. The same smell I went to sleep to many times before.
Dad, then directed his attention, back to us, immediately going over plans for the day.
What time we'll need to make it to school, what classes we'll take, the mapping of the campus grounds, and the town around it.
The high school has been recently renovated. To open doors to college students for a few semesters.
These were all things we knew and discussed already, but he likes to be thorough I suppose?, or perhaps, he's just on edge because we're leaving.
Our Dad isn't the overly emotional type but he cares. He's never been that rough and tough kind of person. To my knowledge at least, that's more like uncle Daring.
My chest pinched me again, from the thought of leaving home, a dull sharp pain nagging at me. Anxiety dwelling behind all my false aches.
The servant returned, with another hot platter, sitting it down in front of my father.
Instantly, the magic in the air frizzes up on my skin, like static. A static I know, like the back of my hand.
My mother walks in, the Queen. Floating across the floor gracefully. Dressed in her deep purples and soft lavender's.
Her hair was colored, amethyst-like, with greys, lilacs, and raven shades, flowing down her back.
Her milk-white legs, carried her to the chair my father pulled out. Soon after, her stalke- assistants, followed suit. Reading off task for the day.
"Letters from royals in the surrounding areas and kingdoms." "Tax collecting from the citizens, and tax deposit for land, goods, excise and Military have been recorded."
"Queen Ginger Croakington, has also requested your presence at her 15th Grand Reopening at her 'Sweet thoughts bakery" a second assistant added on.
After the last plate from the kitchen sat down in front of the Queen, she shoos the handmaidens away, or as I like to call them them ' The News Anchors'.
"Good morning boys!" she said with a laughing smile. "Good morning" The three of us replied laughing and smiling as well. "So, Raiden, Darieth, are you ready for school?" She said with a chirp, in her voice.
"As you all know, Ever After High is not one of my favorite places, for obvious reasons of course." She joked, speaking with a chuckle. "But, with a new headmaster, you guy's experience, will be far better than mine. We're all hoping this process goes as planned, and this way, we can implement, even more hexciting curriculums to teach!"
She was chirping again, too excited for my liking. Especially, if it's about seeing 'me' go back to school. Don't make me lose my appetite this early. I mentally sighed, and yawned, and threw up. Not in that order.
We all know of her time in that school. She's infamous for it. How she basically started an uprising, a revolt, better yet a conversation.
All storybook characters, because of my dear mommy, now have the right to follow their own storybook legend. Shape their own destiny, the thing is the book of Legends, never stopped writing. More and more chapters just started appearing one day. Finally, new tales to tell.
She also made especially sure, to point out who held her back from her true potential.
Milton Grimm.
His name alone angered me. How her own Headmaster, and 'roommate', harassed and tormented her dare I say abuse.
Just because she wanted to be good?
The insanity, it's enough reason for me to not go.
Average personalities, fuckers who peak at attention seeking and dick gargling.
obsessed with being the most liked,
the most popular,
the most beautiful.
No matter how flawed, the individual is it's a pissing contest.
No one in School holds integrity, what's supposed to be different about college?.
"I for one, can never forgive that school, for how they treated you mother. How can you possibly expect 'us', to want to go there?" Darieth spoke up quickly saving my breath and speaking my mind. Fifty points little bro.
She raised her head in shock, surprised at Darieths words, and refusal.
"Darieth, my love." She mouthed her words sweetly, assuring him. "I pulled you both out of the education system, right when you guy's hit the tenth grade."
Dexter continued, "We thought you boys would learn more if we involved the real world unfiltered. You know without the rose colored glasses like we had. Everything is not what it seems.
"Life just doesn't happen in a classroom, the only true way to learn is through experience, and with Raiden fighting they way he did." She paused to look at me and then took a breath to continue. Rough. "This was the best option."
Referring to me directly this time, hastily my father retorted. "This was also to hone your powers first. Raiden, before you unleashed them onto poor civilians, like your mother did to me."
She smiled, and nudged his shoulder at his playful teasing. "Despite my time there, it's an amazing place, with fablelous secrets and adventures, and I so bad. Want the both of you to experience that." She insisted, while getting that soft mom look in her eyes.
My dad raised his finger in the air. "And no one's gonna have to deal, with the previous headmaster Grimm brothers." He proclaimed, with a satisfied look.
"Ah yes!, Giles grim, my good friend is retired now unfortunately, and Milton Grimm, no longer teaches. I made sure of that a long time ago" she explained in an assuring tone.
Darieth and I, both perked up at this news.
"So who's the Headmaster now?" We said in unison, leaning into the table far more interested.
She laughed at our anticipation, and then closed her eyes trying not to. Attempting to chew on her scrambled Dragon eggs.
Leaving her children teetering on this cliffhanger, she finally swallowed and said.
"You'll just have to go and see." She announced with a smug smile. Darieth and I, sat back in our chairs light disappointment in the air.

The Royal family finished breakfast quickly, then loaded there two sons into the steel carriage.
"Boys, remember your room numbers, and please." He begged, with an emphasis on the last part.
"Stay out of trouble, and keep each other safe." Dexter finished. Raven kissed their cheeks, and blew out some air slowly. She seemed to have been holding her breath the whole time. Her face was paler than usual.
"I'm being dramatic, I know, I'm just overwhelmed. I want both of you to have as much fun as possible. That's it." She huffed, putting her hands up in the air innocently. "I get it mom" Raiden replied with a tender smile, then pulled his mom into a tight hug.
"Group hug!" Darieth shouted, then crammed his body into his brother and mother. Dexter joined in gleefully holding his family together in his arms one more time.
After settling in, Dexter slapped the ass on one of the four horses, the grape colored coach sped off towards Ever After High. The brittle clip clopping of the horse shoes against the stone pavement filled the wine colored carriage.
The two boys sat in silence for a while, listening to the snorting and blows of the stallions. Raiden looked up suddenly gasping in surprise, then let out a grunt of disapproval,
Darieth looked away from the window, focusing now on his older brother confused."What?" he asked. "Our 'cousin' is gonna be there." Raiden puffed out, rolling his eyes, Darieth laughed then replied. "Cousin's, you mean."
Raiden positioned his entire body towards the window inside the carriage. Dreading about going back to school, dreading the thought of interacting with people, dreading the sight of classrooms and teachers, and lastly dreading over his ferocious, untamed cousins.
