Chapter 1

Prologue

The chains rattled long after she stopped struggling.

Kralik’s laughter still echoed in the abandoned house, a jagged sound that scraped at the edges of sanity. Buffy’s breath came in sharp, furious bursts—until it didn’t. Until the needle slid into her skin, the world tilted, and the Slayer’s strength drained away like water through broken fingers.

She had fought monsters. She had died once. She had clawed her way back.

But she had never been helpless.

Kralik leaned close, his breath cold and sour. “A Slayer’s blood,” he whispered, “is a rare vintage. But a turned Slayer… now that is a gift to evil itself.”

Buffy spat in his face. “You’re not turning anyone.”

“Oh, but I already have.”

The bite came fast—too fast for her weakened body to resist. Pain flared, then faded, replaced by a cold that seeped into her bones. Her heartbeat slowed. Stuttered. Stopped.

And then she opened her eyes.

Chapter 1 – The Prophecy of the Fallen

Giles dropped the ancient tome onto the library table, the pages trembling under his hands. Willow and Xander stared at him, waiting for hope he couldn’t give.

“It’s called The Prophecy of the Fallen Hand,” Giles said, voice cracking. “It states that if a Slayer is turned, she will remain forever bound to darkness. Her soul cannot be restored. Her allegiance cannot shift. She becomes the enemy she once hunted.

Willow shook her head violently. “No. No, that’s wrong. We can curse her, like Angel. We can—”

“We cannot,” Giles said. “The prophecy is absolute.”

Xander swallowed hard. “So Buffy’s… gone?”

Giles closed the book. “Buffy is dead. What remains is a vampire with her strength, her instincts, and none of her humanity.”

The silence that followed was a wound.

Chapter 2 – The New Predator

Buffy stood on the rooftop overlooking Sunnydale, the wind tugging at her hair. The night felt different now—alive, whispering, welcoming. She could hear every heartbeat in a three-block radius. Smell fear like perfume.

She smiled.

Not Buffy’s smile. Something sharper.

Angel approached slowly, as if she were a wild animal he didn’t want to startle. “Buffy,” he said softly. “You don’t have to do this.”

She turned, golden eyes gleaming. “Angel. You look like you’re about to give me a speech about redemption. Don’t bother.”

“You can fight this,” he insisted.

“No,” she said, stepping closer. “I can’t. And even if I could… I don’t want to.”

Angel froze.

Buffy tilted her head, studying him like prey. “You know what the best part is? I remember everything. Every fear. Every weakness. Every person I ever loved.” Her smile widened. “And now I get to decide what to do with that.”

Angel’s voice broke. “Buffy, please.”

She leaned in, whispering against his ear. “Run.”

Chapter 3 – The Slayer of Slayers

Word spread quickly through the underworld: the Slayer had fallen. Demons whispered her name with reverence and terror. Some sought her out, hoping to serve her. Others fled Sunnydale entirely.

Buffy didn’t care.

She hunted.

Not for food—though she fed when she wanted. She hunted for sport. For the thrill. For the intoxicating rush of power she had never allowed herself to feel as a human.

One night, she found a nest of fledglings who had once feared her.

Now they bowed.

“Rise,” she commanded. “We’re going to make this town remember what a Slayer truly is.”

Chapter 4 – The Last Hope

Giles stood alone in the library, staring at the weapons Buffy once used to save the world. Stakes. Crossbows. Holy water.

He whispered to the empty room, “I’m sorry, Buffy. I failed you.”

But he wasn’t done.

He turned to a different book—one older, darker, forbidden even by Watcher standards.

If Buffy could not be saved…

She would have to be stopped.

Even if it meant killing the girl he had trained, loved, and believed in.
