The Half-Fae and Vampire CEO

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

Being half-human and half-Fae has its drawbacks... I'm not fully accepted by humans or Fae. Not Fae enough for them and not human enough for the humans. I don't even know who my parents are, maybe they abandoned me or maybe they are dead. I don't really have time to worry about that, just getting by day to day is hard enough. I am a professional Thief, it's what pays the bills... But will what was suppose to be a simple job turn into a complicated mess?

Chapter 1

Ever since my twentieth birthday life became more of a nightmare. Some Fae have a scent that attracts people, makes them more desirable. I have that same scent, except mine is way overpowered. I have to work to afford the expensive medication to mask it. To afford it I live simply and work whatever will pay me well. Sometimes that’s stealing things for people, other times it is catching criminals for the bounty. The only thing I haven’t done is sell my body, I know some people do that. But I just can’t bring myself to. I’ve made it 15 years doing this, I can keep going. Being only half Fae I don’t know how long I will live, but I will make the best of it.

I pull my hood up covering my red hair. The mask goes on next. The less people see of me the better. The underground market is where I frequent, the jobs here pay more and this is where I buy my medication. My first stop is the bar. This is where I find most of my jobs. Sometimes people seek me out and other times Bruce keeps an ear out for me.

“Bruce. Do you have anything for me?”

“Yeah, table in the corner Hun.”

He nods in its direction.

“Thanks.”

Bruce keeps tabs on things people need. He’s the bartender at the Moonshine pub. He’s a good man, he’s found some well paying jobs for me and I found the place I rent through him. It’s small and hidden, perfect for me. I don’t need a lot.

Immediately I walk to the table and sit down. The man has a mask and hood over his face but I can tell he is a vampire.

“You have a job for me?” I cut right to the chase.

“Yeah, I do. You’re the half Fae girl right?”

“Half Fae woman. But Yes? And is that an issue?” In the past I have had people refuse to hire me. I hope this guy is not one of them.

“No problem, I hear you get the job done. If you get what I need, I will buy you two doses of the suppressant.”

Two… if it’s the daily type, two doses is not going to cut it. He better mean the longer lasting ones.

“Are you talking about the doses that are taken daily? That’s not worth my time.”

“No, the ones taken once a week.”

Hmm two is better… but I am thinking more.

“What do you need exactly and from where?”

“I need a report on the 2026 trials for Namelin. You sneak in and sneak out with a copy of it. I heard you can get the job done fast and quietly. I don’t want a fuss. I won’t give you more details than that. I don’t want them knowing who I am if you are caught. It should be simple enough. They only have guards posted at the entrance and main floor. Everyone leaves by 9pm minus the guards. Here’s a map of where they are posted. And shift changes.”

He slides a map on the table towards me.

“Once you get it, come back here and I’ll find you. It should be an easy mission.”

“Where am I breaking into exactly?”

He hesitates before answering. “Strong pharmaceuticals office building. The top floor.”

That’s one of the largest manufacturers, no way I am doing it for a mere two weeks. If it’s information on trials it’s worth more than that.

“Sorry, how many doses did you say you will give me as payment?”

“Fine. I’ll give you 4 doses.”

That’s enough for a month. Hm I guess it will be worth it. I can only bargain so much before they get pissed and I risk them walking away. My pause in answering is enough for him to add one more bottle though.

“5 doses it is.”

I leave immediately, night has fallen and I rather get this out of the way.

Pulling out my phone I look up the building I’m supposed to get into. It’s a Skyscraper and the office is of course on the top floor. I stop by my house to grab some gear. I’ll scale the outside of the building, there is an apartment building nearby that I can jump across to it. Those gloves and boots I picked up were a good investment, they are infused with magic.

I’ll avoid the guards all together. Being in all black I won’t be easy to spot and moving quietly is my specialty. Already being light of foot the magic infused earrings I have just add to add an extra noise blocking layer.

Using the fire escape on the side of the apartment building I get to the roof easily. From there I take a running start jumping across the gap and attach onto the side of the office building I’m trying to break into. I land softly. Taking a quick look below me and through the glass I see some guards below but they didn’t notice me. When I look into the building I see guards on each floor as I go up. What the hell. He said the building didn’t have this many guards. There are quite a few though, I have to watch and scale the building as fast as possible.

As I get closer to the top the guards start to thin out then I no longer see any. Once I get to the top of the building I pull out my glass cutter. This office has windows so it makes my job easier. I only have to cut out enough to unlock it. After cutting out a small section I slip it into my pocket before unlocking it.

What I learned on the job always have an escape route. Once I establish no one is here I pull out my grapple gun and shoot, attaching it to the apartment building where I jumped from. There is my exit. I tie the line to the metal framing around the window. It’s pure steel, sturdy enough. Now, what I came here for. The computer is unlocked, was someone here recently? I need to hurry if that’s the case.

Plugging in my USB I search through the files and transfer them over. Holding my breath as the loading bar moves.

My head is on a swivel the entire time. The minute it takes feels like an eternity. I have the USB on a necklace that I zip into my jacket. Now it’s time to get out.

“Who let this little fox in?”

No one was supposed to be in here. Where did he come from.. I didn’t hear a thing… Fuck..
