A beautiful beginning

Everyone was breathing heavily, desperately gasping for air. Meanwhile, outside was a complete disaster; citizens were dying at the hands of Darlex's humanoids. The group was exhausted, at a complete loss for what to do. They fought back, but it was useless. They shot at them, and that didn't work either. The only thing that would actually fix this was killing Darlex. Just then, they received a call from Arnold.

"Guys, I have a mission for you: kill Darlex," Arnold said on the other end of the line. "To do this, you need to collect a few items scattered across different locations. To secure the first three, you have to go to New Land, Carolina. You'll find everything there, but it won't be easy. There are plenty of people and humanoids trying to kill you. I'm trusting you."

Arnold abruptly hung up. Without wasting any time, the team boarded a train to begin their journey.

"God, we're screwed. Killing the hero wasn't the best call; now we've got humanoids to deal with too," Sniper muttered, visibly exhausted.

Suddenly, a faint vibration rippled through the floor. Sniper recognized the danger instantly and dodged—it was explosives. Right after, a terrifying humanoid emerged; it was a black-and-white creature strapped with bombs. Clearly one of Darlex's creations, it immediately started setting off explosions inside the train car.

"You monster!" William barked.

Sniper fired and hit it square in the head, but the creature didn't die. Mid-chaos, they climbed onto the roof of the train, where another humanoid was waiting. This one looked more human: short hair, elegant clothes, red eyes, and a grin full of sharp teeth. His power allowed him to generate sphere-shaped bombs; if one of those balls touched someone, it triggered an explosion. Without even moving from his spot, he began unleashing a barrage of them, handling them like a twisted mix of football, soccer, and basketball. The balls didn't fall off the roof because an invisible barrier kept them in play.

"Hey! Don't just dodge! When you see a bomb get close to him, shoot!" Sniper ordered.

Everyone obeyed, successfully wounding the human-looking humanoid. This enraged the monster, forcing it to reveal its true form: a stark black-and-white humanoid, typical of Darlex's ranks, endowed with raw, monstrous strength. Right then, a passenger tried to act brave and take a swing at it, but the monster obliterated his head with a single punch.

The humanoid gripped the train with immense force and threw it, derailing the entire convoy. Fortunately, the members of Group S already had their parachutes on. The passengers, however, weren't so lucky—every single one of them died on impact. The humanoid leaped after the protagonists, who managed to land safely atop two separate skyscrapers.

The creature headed straight for William and Sebastian on one of the buildings. Thinking fast, William and Sebastian lured the humanoid to the very edge of the rooftop and dove off into the void. The monster, assuming there was solid ground below, jumped right after them. However, it didn't realize Sniper and Quintax had secured William and Sebastian with ropes from the adjacent skyscraper. The humanoid plummeted, smashing hard into the ground below, but it stood right back up as if nothing happened.

Quickly, the rest of Group S deployed their parachutes to descend, sprinting toward the train tracks with the monster hot on their heels. When they spotted an oncoming train barreling down the tracks, Group S timed it perfectly and threw themselves to the left, while the humanoid went right. That was a fatal mistake for the creature. The explosive humanoid from the beginning was inside that very train and detonated it, derailing the massive convoy to the right. The crushing weight of the train flattened and killed the second humanoid instantly.

Without a moment's rest, the first explosive humanoid turned its attacks on the protagonists. They ran at full speed, breaking past the entrance of New Land. Just at that moment, a local scientist appeared and neutralized the creature by drenching it in ultra-concentrated sulfuric acid—a substance heavily modified to melt through absolutely anything. The scientist locked eyes with Group S for a brief second and vanished into thin air.

"What the hell? Does everyone just vanish now or what?" Quintax complained.

They looked back: they were officially inside New Land, Carolina, and a heavy, oppressive presence filled the air. They decided to head for the first item, but before starting their search, Group S walked a bit and stopped at a restaurant to grab some food. The place was massive, featuring a huge indoor playground for kids.

"Would you like some cake? We're celebrating this restaurant's fifth anniversary," the owner said, brimming with excitement.

His joy was short-lived. The man suddenly began vomiting blood, collapsing dead right in front of them. The cake was poisoned. Within seconds, every single customer in the restaurant died, except for Group S and a mysterious woman.

The woman let out a soft laugh and said, "Good afternoon, welcome to New Land. Consider this your warm welcome."

In that exact instant, 16 people burst into the room, all clearly masters of various martial arts. The enemies split up for the attack: 8 surged toward Sniper, while the other 8 targeted the rest of the group.

William squared off against two of them—one a boxer, the other a taekwondo expert. William dodged a barrage of strikes, but the pressure was mounting, forcing him to focus. He landed a devastating blow to the taekwondo fighter's face, then strangled him using a thick rope that was being used to hold up a piñata. The boxer was a much tougher opponent, but his skill couldn't save him. William baited him into a narrow hallway. Trapped in the tight space, William easily evaded his swings, while the boxer had no room to dodge at such close quarters. William cornered him and beat him to death.

Meanwhile, Quintax was handling four enemies in the playground area, close to Sniper's position. Quintax sprinted and leaped from a broken bridge onto another section of the play structure. A kendo fighter jumped after him, but Quintax intercepted him with a precise kick, sending him plummeting 35 meters to the ground. These guys weren't very experienced. Next up was a sumo wrestler, whose massive weight caused the bridge to collapse under him, sending him falling into the abyss. The remaining two were karate and kickboxing experts who took a detour to flank Quintax. The kickboxer attacked aggressively, but Quintax used a nearby rope to parry and redirect his punches and kicks, causing the attacker to lose his balance and plunge 36 meters down. The karate fighter wasn't going to be taken down easily. He maintained his footing and pursued Quintax as he swung onto a different play structure. However, Quintax had engineered the perfect trap; he delivered a brutal kick that sent the karateka hurtling 32 meters down. The fighter struck the ground hard, shattering his skull and spine.

Sebastian wasn't having a hard time at all. He found himself up against a jiu-jitsu practitioner and a kung fu master. Having absolutely no intention of wasting time on a fistfight, he simply drew his weapon and shot them both.

Over in the main attraction area, Sniper was on the run. Eight martial arts experts were hot on his tail: MMA, judo, muay thai, krav maga, savate, capoeira, sambo, and fencing. Rather than engaging in a direct brawl right away, Sniper devised a plan and used parkour to leap across the structures. While none of his pursuers fell during the chase, not all of them mastered the discipline. Sniper climbed a rope to the roof and quickly sliced it; the less agile fighters, namely the capoeira, sambo, and savate practitioners, fell to their deaths due to overconfidence. The fencer managed to survive by driving his sword into the roof just in time, halting his fall.

The remaining five enemies climbed onto the roof, where Sniper was already waiting for them. The final showdown began. Sniper struck first, tossing the judo fighter off the ledge. The muay thai fighter managed to shove Sniper, but the veteran caught the edge of the roof just in time and pulled himself back up with immense upper body strength. The krav maga fighter took one look at the situation and decided to retreat, but Sniper shot him down the moment he tried to flee. Sniper then turned his attention back to the muay thai fighter; the attacker tried to throw a heavy kick, but Sniper's legs were so thoroughly conditioned that the impact shattered the attacker's own limbs, and he was thrown off the roof shortly after.

Only the MMA fighter and the fencer remained. The fencer lunged with his weapon, but Sniper drew his sniper rifle and shot him directly through the head, killing him instantly. Finally, he went toe-to-toe with the MMA fighter, who proved to be highly skilled; he managed to tackle Sniper and began dominating him on the ground. However, the Grade 0 operative endured the punishment. Capitalizing on a split-second mistake, Sniper grabbed his opponent and brutally slammed his head against the edge of the roof, crushing his skull.

With the area finally clear, Group S regrouped.

"You guys didn't use weapons during your fights either, right?" Sniper said, letting out a small chuckle.

Now focused, the team set out to find the first objective. They arrived at a massive blue facility and began gathering the components: a few books, some mysterious liquids, and unique plants. With all three items secured, they turned to leave, but the building's exit slammed shut and completely vanished.

"Again?" Quintax groaned.

In that tense silence, a massive four-legged beast began to stalk them from the shadows.
