Chapter 1 — The Village Beneath the Stars
The night sky was unusually clear.
Thousands of stars covered the mountains like scattered diamonds.
Deep within the mountains, far from the larger towns, there was a small village surrounded by enormous cedar trees.
A young boy stood outside his family's wooden house.
His name was Kaze Ryujin.
He was only seven years old.
Kaze stared at the sky.
Kaze:
"Dad... why do the stars never fall?"
His father smiled while splitting firewood.
Father:
"Because they have somewhere they're meant to be."
Kaze looked confused.
Kaze:
"Somewhere they're meant to be?"
His father nodded.
Father:
"Everyone has a path, Kaze. Sometimes you just have to look long enough to find yours."
Kaze looked back at the stars.
He didn't understand.
