Chapter 1
Liang Ling blinked his tired eyes open after a grueling month of slaving away at his desk. His overworked body finally gave out, collapsing into a deep sleep.
Waking up, Liang Ling looked around and immediately realized this was not his apartment. He pushed himself up and stretched. The room looked effortlessly expensive—far beyond what his wages could ever afford while still leaving room for groceries.
How had he ended up here? He turned to leave the expansive bedroom, catching his reflection in the large vanity mirror, and froze in shock.
"Who is this?! Oh, wait... It's me."
Who on earth dyed his hair purple? Why was it so impossibly well-groomed and neatly styled? And these clothes?
Everything about the situation was deeply strange. Even weirder, he could see his reflection perfectly clear without stumbling around for his glasses or contacts.
Was he kidnapped? No, what kind of kidnapper puts a prisoner in accommodations this nice?
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Mommy, I'm hungry," a cute, milky voice called out from beyond the door. "I want to see daddy!"
Liang Ling froze. A kid? What was a child doing here? Where were her parents?
Stepping forward, Liang Ling pulled the door open and offered a gentle, hesitant smile. "Um, hello there." He flashed an awkward grin at the tiny visitor.
The little girl’s eyes instantly welled up with tears, which soon spilled over her cheeks. "I'm sorry, mommy, but I'm hungry. Chelsie isn't being rude. She's just hungry."
Liang Ling felt a wave of awkward panic. Hungry? Mommy? What on earth was going on?
Suddenly, a splitting headache slammed into him, feeling as though someone had taken an axe to his skull.
"Ack!?"
"Mommy!?" the little milky voice cried out in alarm.
After clutching his throbbing head for a few agonizing moments, the memories flooded in, and Liang Ling finally understood.
In this world, there were three sexes: male, female, and ger. The person he had transmigrated into was Parker Brown, a ger—and a notoriously bitchy one at that.
Parker was the youngest child of a wealthy family who had spoiled him rotten. They had eventually forced him into marrying an extremely prosperous billionaire who was looking for a wife.
Despite the forced marriage, the husband, Drake Faulkmoore, genuinely tried to make it work. He wasn't one of those cartoonish, hateful, contract-marriage CEOs who despised everyone. While undeniably cold at times, Drake was a decent, respectful gentleman.
Parker, however, made their marriage a living misery. He constantly argued, demanded exorbitant amounts of money, lazed around, and partied nonstop, never making the slightest effort to get along.
Then came the night they both got drunk at a party, leading to what Parker bitterly called an "accident." That accident was Chelsie—an innocent little cinnamon roll of a child.
Parker hated children. He used Chelsie as ammunition to start more fights with Drake, complaining endlessly about gaining weight, residual fat, stretch marks, and all the superficial toll pregnancy had taken on him.
Most of the time, he blamed Drake for not letting him get an abortion. In reality, Drake acted more like a single father, taking care of Chelsie while Parker was constantly out partying or sleeping in.
Drake repeatedly tried to talk sense into Parker, but every attempt inevitably devolved into a screaming match.
The breaking point finally arrived when Chelsie fell deathly ill and had to be hospitalized. Diagnosed with leukemia, she urgently needed a blood transfusion after surgery. Drake couldn't donate because he had just undergone a medical procedure himself.
When they turned to Parker, drawing blood proved impossible because he was completely wasted. They nearly lost Chelsie that day, and Drake only secured a donor by furiously threatening the staff.
Exhausted and pushed past his absolute limit, Drake served divorce papers.
When Parker ran to complain to his parents, they threatened to cut him off entirely, admitting they were sick of his antics and glad to be rid of him. Trapped with no financial safety net, Parker refused to sign the divorce papers, resorting to using Chelsie as leverage. When even that failed, he panicked, kidnapped Chelsie, and fled to this hideout.
And here they now stood.
Liang Ling shed invisible tears.
