I.
“What do you want to be when you’re older?” Mr. Sam, my English teacher, asks and everyone diverts their attention to me.
Without hesitation, I reply, “a businesswoman.” Most boys in the class laugh and mumble amongst each other.
“You wouldn’t succeed. You’re a girl, so I suggest you become a nurse or something girly,” states a student. Gasps are heard and I turn to look at the ignorant boys.
Silence dominates the classroom; as I open my mouth to reply the bell rings. Without a doubt, the student packs his bag and scurries out of class.
This event and the boy’s words became my fuel. It made me determined to prove them wrong.
Look at me now.
This ‘girl’ is now the owner and CEO of one of the most successful multinational businesses in the world.
Who is laughing now?
