Empty Places: The Wish That Unmade Her

Summary

Takes place during Season 7′s ‘Empty Places.’ Buffy makes a wish that has disastrous consequences. She wishes that she never changed out of being a Vampire from Billy Palmer’s dream. That it will become real and forever, with no spell to end it, so that way she can’t feel anything for anyone because they kicked her out and didn’t want her- the real HER. Well, it comes true, and she is sucked into time to Season 1, and after they save Billy (AGAIN), Buffy remains a creature of the night. With a soul, she shuns out the Scoobies by talking to the Master, eventually becoming his favorite childe and receiving special treatment more than the Scoobies ever gave her. She enjoys being a Vampire very well and is quite good at it, choosing to be evil rather than the soul forcing her. She has no curse to stop her, unlike Angel. The Master is left unstaked and takes over Sunnydale along with Buffy, who finds herself interested in Spike. He is to come and help them deal with the new Slayer. Season 7 fracture → Season 1 rewrite • Buffy/Vampire!Buffy • Master’s Childe • Spike enters early

Prologue

Prologue — The Moment She Breaks

They didn’t want her.

Not the Slayer. Not the general. Not the girl who had died twice for them. Not the woman who had clawed her way out of her grave, who had carried the weight of every apocalypse, who had bled and burned and sacrificed until she was hollow.

They wanted someone else—someone softer, someone less frightening, someone less… Buffy.

In the ruins of the Summers living room, after the shouting, after the betrayal, after the final blow of being told to leave her own home, Buffy walked alone through the dark streets of Sunnydale. Her chest felt carved out. Her pulse felt wrong. Her breath felt like a lie.

She whispered into the night, voice cracking:

“I wish I’d never changed back. I wish Billy Palmer’s dream had stayed real. I wish I’d stayed a vampire forever—no spell, no cure, no feelings. Then they wouldn’t be able to hurt me.”

The air tightened.

A shimmer of cold, childish laughter rippled through the alley.

Halfrek stepped out of the shadows, eyes glinting.

“Wish granted.”

And Buffy was ripped out of time.
