The wolf that finds the bunny moon

“There are so many stars around me and yet I feel so lonely.”

The moon keeps wailing in the sky. The little bunny on the ground, with his long droopy ears feels sad about the moon’s loneliness.

“Why don’t you have a friend?” asks the floppy-eared bunny.

“Because no one wants to come and be with me.” Replies the moon.

“I’ll be your friend! We can be happy like this!” Exclaims the lop-eared bunny.

“Would you really do that, don’t you have anyone to love you?”

The moon is shocked A bunny! The creature that everyone on earth loves is willing to move away to be her friend. To dwell in its orbit.

“There are so many people, but I feel so lonely... Until the night comes and we talk endlessly. You are, really, my only family Why wouldn’t I want to be with you?”

The floppy-eared bunny stretches his little front paws toward the strong, white light that brings down the coppery color of his fur.

“If that’s so I’ll be the one to love you! Like no one ever has before.”

The lop-eared bunny notices that, in the moon, his hops are bigger, his ears float and his now white fur fluffs up. He squawks and hops over the moon, the other animals watch him from afar. It becomes the theme of every night as the moon carried a bunny and even in her dark moments, she was never heard crying again.

Laughing non-stop for the little creature that never stops jumping and loving her.

He closes the hardcover book and looks at the cover. His huge eyes shining from the story he has read hundreds of times. He gets out of bed, fluffy tail wagging back and forth. He leaves the book on the bed and goes to the window. He can’t reach it because of how short he’s. He admires the moon in the sky. Round and white it illuminates slightly all around him.

“Moon, I want a bunny too. Why don’t you give it to me? I promise I’ll howl every night” He lays back his cheek. “And I’ll draw you pretty pictures every day! Please... I don’t want to be alone anymore.”

The doggy squeal and floppy ears accompany the childish sobs. The door to the small room opens.

“Jungkook, hush. What did we say about being squeaky?”

Jungkook returns to his bed, hiding between the sheets. His ears folded to his head and tail tucked between his legs. He hugs the book and the door is closed again. He turns on his flashlight to reread the little story:The Moon Bunny.

“Y-you promised me I could-”

“I can’t broke the rules. Sorry Jimin, but that’s the way things work.”

He almost fell on his face from the pile of books in his arms. The door closes on his nose and the librarian walks away. Jimin gives a disappointed sigh and starts walking through the huge university library to put the books in their place. He was tempted to keep one concerning realistic literature.

Jimin puts it in its place. He doesn’t need any trouble. He pushes back his hair and places his long ear over his shoulder. Having droopy ears is not exactly functional. Especially his, which are fluffy and white fur. Being a mini-loop bunny beastman brings a thousand complications. From his stature, his ears are long downwards, he gets fluffy just breathing and he gets hungry every two minutes.

Jimin grabs his things and heads for the library exit, swipes his attendance card and exits. It’s a dreary, gray day. The complete opposite of what someone who will be using public transportation needs. Jimin goes prancing about a few times, his ears bounce and his steamy, but dark and closed clothes lurch slightly.

“A bunny here.”

His right ear perks up slightly.

“I told you there was one.”

“He doesn’t even have Alpha.”

“Maybe it’s for the pairing festival.”

“You want a bunny!?”

“For a little while! I can return it later. That’s the great thing about bunnys.”

Jimin looks at them with a frown and the group takes flight, intimidated and embarrassed to be overheard. He looks at the time and snorts. The bus will be late and he’ll have to take more bullshit from everyone at this university.

Said and done, at the bus stop there is a group of people. None are beastman, but out of five, three are Alphas along with two betas. Jimin took a seat without saying anything and after only five minutes, they started to bother him. Pulling his ears, talking directly under them, tugging at his fur, asking him for nonsense. As if he were some kind of animal.

“Come on bunny, do some tricks.”

“Maybe I can’t hear with those shitty ears.”

“Do! Something! Bunny!”

Jimin gives a whimper and recoils without getting them to stop tugging on his right ear, they yell right into it it starts to hurt in every way. A grunt distracts them and because of the closeness of the person, the group pulls away from Jimin who rubs his ear. The smell of Alpha abounds, Jimin instantly backs away, almost cowering in the corner as the wolf beastman growls at the group. Threatening as he bares his fangs.

“Get lost, now” the dog orders before giving a rabid bark. The group run off and he relaxes. “What the fuck is wrong with Seoul? They’re scumbags everywhere!” he complains loudly as he shakes his rain-soaked arms.

“Thanks for the help.” says Jimin from his spot.

“You’re welcome.” he replies without thinking.

Jimin sits at a safe distance. He looks at his cell phone from time to time, curses under his breath and is able to ignore the fact that the beastman keeps looking at him. Fixed, constant. He licks his lips, plays with his ear, checks that his piercings are okay. Until the big, tall, black-clad stranger with long doggy ears on his head speaks:

“My name is Jungkook. Jeon Jungkook.” He introduces himself, his tail never stops wagging.

“Park Ji-Min, nice to meet you.”

Jungkook wags his tail harder.

“You’re an albino bunny.”

Jimin doesn’t say anything. Isn’t it obvious?

“I’ve never seen a bunny like you before. White and floppy-eared.” Jungkook comments and Jimin can’t help but look at that blur that is the beastman’s fidgeting tail.

“Hey, okay? I-I’m glad you discovered something new.” says Jimin, confused.

“Do you study here?”

“No.”

“Ummm...”

Jimin bites his lower lip. It smells stronger now, but it’s not aggressive or overbearing. Rather, he perceives it as an invitation, almost a greeting. He turns red at the closeness. Not enough to invade his personal space. Jungkook sniffs discreetly and lightly. A doggy squeak escapes him and a shy smile spreads across his lips.

“You’re very cute.” Jungkook wrinkles his nose and lowers his ears in an almost submissive gesture. Jimin lifts his slightly and blushes. It was a little strange, but he can’t say it made him uncomfortable. Jungkook is quite tender and even gentle in the way he approaches.

From then on it’s natural for Jimin to see Jungkook every day he goes to the library to work. Almost always at the same spot. Sooner or later to see the wolf wandering around. The first few times, just a shy greeting from afar and little more. As the days went by, it became something closer: giving him a drink, some candy, showing the drawings he makes, showing the guitar he usually carries everywhere.

Right now he is in a stage of receiving gifts: drawings of different things. The moon, bunnys, his picture person that Jungkook asked if he could take. Nice pens, some colored pens, notebooks to make notes - it’s a lot! A lot! Jungkook is very kind to give him so many gifts, but when Jimin asks him why he does it, he never answers. He just looks at him while wagging his tail endlessly like an excited dog.

His fur and coat looks gray and white at the roots sometimes, but the next day it’s black. He assumes it is a white wolf. There are no such in Korea. What a peculiar wolf.

“You like... dogs, don’t you?”

“I like animals in general. I’m afraid of butterflies.” admits Jimin. Jungkook turns for a moment and Jimin notices him throw something on the floor, far away. He turns again and holds out a small bag.

Inside is a set of five colors pen. Each beautifully decorated with different animals. A dog -black ink-, chick -yellow-, cat -red-, whale -dark blue-, bird -purple-. Jimin has the feeling that seen this set, but with six colors.

“They are very pretty.”

Jungkook keeps wagging his tail, pleased.

“Isn’t there a color missing now?”

“Uh...”

“Never mind, I can buy it myself- where are you going?”

Jimin tries not to laugh, Jungkook starts searching the floor for the pen he threw away. Light blue ink with butterfly decoration.

“How cold.”

Jimin remains unseeing for a moment. Jungkook pulls the jacket down to his shoulders. He sniffs, the stench of Alpha. Off to the side Jungkook in a t-shirt revealing his arms. One full of tattoos. Both thick and muscular; hair half curled and long with slightly white roots. Jimin blushes turning his eyes to the front. He wears the jacket until the bus arrives.

“You wanted this book didn’t you?”

“Yes, but” Jimin gives a tired laugh. “I can’t take it. It’s-”

“Take it.”

“No.”

“I ordered it for you. They won’t notice.”

“I can’t have it.” Jimin pushes the book toward Jungkook. “It’s not a bunny thing.”

Jimin swings his feet and when the bus arrives, he gets a shock to notice Jungkook leaving and leaves the book there on purpose. Jimin had no choice but to take it with him.

“Do you like confectionery?”

Jimin nods at the same time as he has his cheeks full of mochis that Jungkook just gave him. The wolf beastman takes out another box from his bag and puts it on the seat. Jimin turns red with embarrassment. Jungkook wrinkles his nose, amused; he ties his all-black hair back and lightly pushes the box to encourage him to take more.

“No, you don’t have to pay me. They’re a gift.”

“It makes me feel bad that you’re trying so hard and not-”

“It’s a gift!” insists Jungkook with droopy ears. Jimin pouts. Jungkook gave him a too-pretty drawing. Watercolors, gold ink, so much care in every detail. He feels bad to take it. He already has several and feels he should pay him for his effort.

“Don’t give me any more of your work and dedication.”

“I-it’s fine like this.” Jungkook remains with his ears drooped. Jimin pushes one behind his shoulder.

“N-not for me, just” Jimin rubs his face with one hand. “You’re tender and kind, I just don’t understand you. What do you want from me?”

The wolf doesn’t answer.
