Chapter 1

The school bag was bigger than her. 4 year old Soyeon came home after school and called for her parents "Eomma? Appa?" No answer. The living room was empty. The TV was off. She went room by room but found no one. After searching the whole mansion, Soyeon sat on the couch in the living room, waiting patiently.

2 hours later, the door opened. Soyeon dashed to the door but froze at the sight of her uncle and aunt. Their faces were red.

Aunt Soojin:"Soyeon-ah..."

Young Soyeon:"Imo, where is eomma?"

Soojin didn't answer. She just hugged her so tight that Soyeon couldn't breathe. Her uncle knelt down and hugged them both. He was crying too. Soyeon had never seen him cry.

Two days later.

It was raining heavily. Soyeon stood beside her aunt wearing a black mourning dress. In front of them were two photos. Her mother and her father.

It was the first funeral of her life. Being so young, she didn't understand what a funeral was. She only understood that everyone was looking at her with pity. Her aunt stayed by her side the whole time and Soyeon was taken to her uncle's house at the end of the day.

When Soyeon turned 10, she had to attend another funeral. This time, she fully understood what it was. Her uncle died from a heart attack. Soyeon's aunt was in the bedroom, on the floor. But this time, Soyeon was the one hugging her. Woo shik, Soyeon's cousin, who was 19 then, had just come back from the hospital. He was no longer a boy. He vowed that day that he will protect his mother and Soyeon at any cost.

Tragedy never left Soyeon's life. Even on her own wedding day. She walks halfway down the asile with woo shik when suddenly gunshots echo through the church and Taehyung clutches his bleeding heart. Soyeon runs toward him as the hall erupts in chaos and screams. She kneels beside his bleeding body nd practically falls over him, he looks at her bloody veil and gown for a moment and closes his eyes with a sad smile. Soyeon cries out and people take taehyung to the hospital. After some time, the doctors declar him dead. It was the 3rd and most painful funeral of Soyeon's life. She locks herself in the house for almost a year.
