Logan's pov
The strong amber liquid burned a trail down my throat. I leaned back against the sticky vinyl of the bar stool, pulling a cigarette from the pack. After I lit it I took a long, slow drag, letting the nicotine settle into my bloodstream, and scanned the room with a clinical detachment.
Across the dim, smoke-filled floor, a woman was staring at me. She was an eyesore. Older, with skin that looked like cured leather and breasts that sagged heavily under a tight, cheap leather top. She wore a mini skirt that was far too short for her age, clinging to hips that had seen better decades. Her hair was a rugged, fried mess, and her makeup was smeared across her face like a war paint of desperation.
She blew me a slow kiss in my direction.
A wave of genuine nausea hit me. I turned away sharply, staring back into the depths of my glass. My mind immediately shifted, the predatory instinct clicking into place. I imagined standing up, walking across that floor, and sliding my blade upward, right under her chin. I could almost feel the resistance of the skin before the steel sliced through the tongue and pierced the brain. Death would be quick. Efficient.
I couldn't stand pests like her. Women like that weren't people; they were stains on the fabric of the world, germs that needed to be flushed out of society to keep the rest of us clean. I had lost count of how many "germs" I had scrubbed away over the years. I was a ghost; I left no traces, no DNA, no leads. I was the void that people fell into and never climbed out of.
I took another puff of my cigarette, and suddenly, I felt bony, calloused fingers slide onto my thigh.
I didn't flinch. I turned slowly and smirked, my hand reaching out to squeeze her backside. It felt like grabbing a bag of loose laundry.
"You want me for the night?" she rasped, her voice sounding like gravel in a blender. "A hundred bucks."
I nodded, my expression a mask of interest. "Meet me further up the street. Away from the crowd."
She smiled, revealing a set of gold teeth that glinted obscenely in the low light, and walked off with a labored sway of her hips. I finished my drink, tossed a few bills on the counter, and walked out into the cool night air.
My black Mustang was waiting for me. I drove to the designated spot, where she was leaning against a rusted chain-link fence. She slid into the passenger seat, and immediately, she began to touch me. Her hands were restless, roaming over my chest and arms, and every touch felt like a smudge of grease on a polished surface.
My fingers twitched, longing to reach into the glove box for the cold comfort of my knife.
"God, you're so buff," she moaned, rubbing my thigh with a frantic energy. "You sexy thing. Do you model for a magazine or something?"
I only smirked, keeping my eyes on the road. I wasn't a model; I was a sculptor, and she was about to be my final piece of art in this town.
When I pulled up to my house, she stepped out behind me, her heels clicking on the pavement. Once inside, she began wandering, picking up my things, her curiosity as irritating as her scent. I didn't waste time. I stripped naked in a few fluid motions, my muscles tensing, and looked at her with a cold, commanding gaze.
"Strip," I ordered.
She obeyed with a clumsy eagerness, peeling off the leather and the mini skirt until she stood there in all her sagging, wrinkled glory. I led her toward the back of the house, into a room that would have terrified anyone with a shred of intuition.
The room was encased in plastic. Heavy, clear sheets of polyethylene covered the walls, the floor, and the ceiling, taped tightly at the seams.
She scrunched her nose, looking around in confusion. "Why is everything filled with fucking plastic?"
I smiled. "I'm a clean guy sweetheart."
Her eyes dropped to my cock, her pupils dilating. I climbed onto the bed, which was also draped in plastic, and rolled on a condom I had already set aside. She let out a wheezing laugh.
"You're gonna destroy me with that thing," she giggled, easing herself down onto me.
As she began to bounce, moaning loudly into the quiet of the room, I stared at the ceiling. I felt nothing but a profound sense of anticipation. This was it. The final kill. After tonight, I was leaving this city. I was moving to a different state to take a position as a professor at a prestigious university. I would be the respected academic, the man of intellect and poise. But before I could become the teacher, I had to finish the harvest.
The moment the climax hit, I didn't linger in the pleasure. I reached to the side of the bed, where a serrated hunting knife was embedded in the frame. I ripped it out in one swift motion.
The transition from pleasure to terror was instantaneous.
I didn't go for the kill immediately. I wanted her to understand the purity of her own insignificance. I unleashed a storm of violence upon her that was beyond brutal. I carved into her, the blade slicing through the sagging skin of her stomach and thighs, the plastic beneath us quickly becoming a lake of blood.
She screamed but I only laughed. I laughed into the room, the sound mixing with her guttural pleas for mercy. I felt a surge of electric energy, a manic release of everything I had suppressed. I was screaming along with her, not in pain, but in a fit of absolute, primal ecstasy.
I worked with a surgical precision, cutting and hacking, ensuring that every scream was earned. I watched the light fade from her eyes, not all at once, but in increments, as I methodically dismantled her.
Eventually, the screaming stopped, replaced by the wet sound of my blade hitting flesh. I staggered back, breathing hard, my chest heaving, sweat and blood dripping from my forehead. I wiped my brow with the back of my hand, leaving a red smear across my skin.
I looked down at the ruin of the woman on the plastic. She was no longer a stain; she was just matter.
I got back to work, methodically beginning the process of disassembly. I had a schedule to keep, a new life to start, and a classroom waiting for me. I whistled a soft tune as I began to bag the remains, the plastic crinkling under my touch, ensuring that not a single drop of her existence would remain to haunt my future.
