Chapter I
CHAPTER 1 — THE BLACK ROSE
Months have passed since Ling Feng returned to his world.
Ming Meng tries to live normally again.
She reads in her garden, cooks, cleans, and tells herself that she has forgotten the strange world she once entered.
But she hasn't.
One rainy evening, she finds a single black rose on her windowsill.
There is no stem.
No leaves.
Just the flower.
When she touches it, she hears Ling Feng's voice.
"Ming Meng..."
She drops the rose.
Then she hears him again.
"Don't come looking for me."
Before she can understand what he means, the room suddenly becomes cold.
The rose turns blacker.
And for one second, Ming Meng sees a vision.
Ling Feng is standing inside an unfamiliar palace.
Black chains surround him.
Behind him stands a shadow.
A man's voice whispers:
"You were warned, Ling Feng."
Ming Meng wakes from the vision frightened.
The rose is still in her hand.
But now there is writing on one of its petals:
DON'T TRUST THE WHITE ANGEL.
