Chapter 1 Some little things matters
The afternoon sun caught something sparkling on the pavement.
David Smith slowed down.
Near the entrance of a coffee shop lay a small makeup case. Its lid glittered in the light, marked with two initials: S.A.
He looked around, but no one seemed to be searching for it. Rather than keep it, David handed it to the security guard inside the coffee shop.
Neither of them knew how important that little case would become.
Two years earlier…
Suzy Antecello had just finished her morning jog when she stopped at a convenience store for her favorite energy drink.
The cashier was away, but a young man stepped forward to assist her. He was handsome, polite, and quick with a smile.
His name was Nathaniel—Nate for short.
Suzy paid and walked out, unaware that she had left her change behind.
“Miss!”
Nate caught up with her and handed it back.
A few seconds later, they had exchanged names—and Suzy's phone number was saved in his.
That evening, Suzy prepared for work at the coffee shop. While brushing her hair, her mother, Patricia, quietly told her that she needed to put her nursing course on hold.
Margo, her eldest sister, was in her final year of college, while their father's illness had placed the family under financial strain.
Suzy didn't argue. She simply nodded.
She grabbed her backpack and left for work.
Halfway there, her phone rang.
Nate.
As she reached for the phone, her backpack shifted.
Her purse slipped out and fell unnoticed behind her.
Suzy kept walking.
She had no idea that something so ordinary was about to set an extraordinary chain of events in motion.
