Chapter 1
The first character we meet is Ariel, seated quietly beside the window of the female chamber.
Her long, wavy pink hair falls over her shoulders, catching the faint light that slips through the glass. Every detail of her attire speaks of royalty—elegant fabrics, delicate ornaments, and the unmistakable weight of a position she never asked for.
Yet Ariel feels no pride in it.
Something within her remains unsettled. It is not lust, nor is it a simple desire for freedom. It is something deeper—an ache that has slowly consumed her from within.
The quiet of the chamber breaks when the door opens.
Iris steps inside.
Two years older than Ariel, he carries himself with the effortless presence of someone born to rule. His broad shoulders contrast with his slender frame, while his clothing mirrors Ariel’s in its elegance and refinement. Every detail marks him as what he is—the Crown Prince of Valish.
But within these walls, Iris is not simply a prince.
His eyes find Ariel.
To him, she is his solace, his pride, and his greatest joy. The burdens of the crown seem lighter whenever he is near her. Yet he can sense the distance in her silence, the unspoken weight behind her eyes.
“Ariel,” he says softly.
She turns toward him.
For a moment, neither speaks.
Something inside her finally gives way.
The tension in her expression loosens, and the faintest smile appears on her lips. It isn't bright or complete, but it is there—a small glimpse of the person hidden beneath the weight she carries.
Iris walks toward her.
Neither of them says anything more.
Together, they step through the balcony doors and take their seats on the chairs overlooking the distant lands of Valish. The evening air brushes gently against Ariel's pink hair as it moves with the breeze.
For a while, they simply sit.
Of course. I’ll make the ending more natural and understated, while keeping the elemental contrast clear.
“You’re thinking again,” Iris says.
Ariel quickly shakes her head. “I’m not.”
Her answer comes a little too quickly. She looks away, trying to hide the faint blush on her cheeks as Iris moves slightly closer.
There was one thing Iris had noticed about his family. Ever since Ariel returned, she had always seemed a little different, almost like an outsider.
In a world of elements, Iris possesses the powers of ice and water. Ariel, however, is different from him in many ways. Her nature, her abilities, even the way she sees things often seem to place her on the other side of the world he knows.
A knock sounded against the door.
Iris went silent as a servant announced that his presence was needed in the front room. After delivering the message, the servant quietly left.
Iris began to rise, but Ariel hesitated.
She reached out and held his arm—not too firmly, but not so lightly that he could mistake what she meant.
“Stay,” she said quietly.
It wasn't fear that made her ask.
She simply didn't want to be left alone with her thoughts.
Iris looked down at her hand, then back at her face. For a moment, he said nothing.
Then he settled back into his chair.
Out of nowhere, Ariel speaks.
“I’m sorry.”
Iris turns toward her.
“I never meant to go against your family,” she continues quietly. “I really don’t.”
His icy gaze rests on her. He has heard these words from her many times before, yet he listens every time.
“My parents mean no harm,” Iris says after a moment. “And neither do you.”
Ariel lowers her eyes.
“I know.”
There is a pause between them.
They both understand the problem. Neither of them is trying to hurt the other. Yet somehow, there is a line between them that neither seems able to cross.
Not because they don't want to.
They simply don't know how.
How was the first chapter 😅?
It's my first time here and I'll be doing the character introductions on the third chapter
