Chapter 1

"Arena, no matter what happens, know that Mom and Dad will always be there by your side."

My mother and father were right there, standing in front of me. I wanted to take them in my arms, but I was suddenly jolted awake by cold water being thrown over me.

This is my daily life, after all.

"You have chores to do, Arena. Wake up. You should already be grateful that we're kind enough to feed you and give you a place to stay in this pack, so the least you can do is repay us by doing everything you're told. Get moving, and quickly."

"Alright, I'm coming."

It's only 5 a.m., and on top of barely ever getting a full night's sleep because of all the chores I'm forced to do...

My father was an Omega and my mother was a Fae, and they were destined mates. My mother fled her kingdom to live with my father forever. When I was five, the Fae kingdom managed to locate my mother and wanted to execute her for treason, but my father stepped in, and they both died.

I was there that day. A five-year-old little girl hiding, helpless and unable to do anything. I am an Omega like my father, but I also inherited my mother's abilities. I can give life to nature, make plants and trees grow, and also heal living beings. The downside is that it takes a lot of energy because of my lack of proper nutrition.

Omegas like me are often looked down upon because of their inability to fight and their fragility.

I am the one who cooks for the entire pack, and I have to do all the household chores.

I only eat leftovers, and sometimes nothing at all. I can't wait for the start of the school year. I'm going into my final year at the Academy, and I will finally be able to escape this pack.

My goal is to become a doctor for the royal family, the Lycans. Lycans are the purest and oldest species of werewolf. They are the ones who rule over the werewolf and Lycan species. Their only disadvantage is that very few of them find their other half, their Mate.

I'll turn nineteen in three days, the age at which shapeshifters can find their soulmate. I want to find mine, but I'm also afraid that he might reject me because of my Omega rank.

To be honest, I don't care who my Mate will be. One thing is certain: I will never let anyone walk all over me or dominate me.

"Arena?"

I turned around to face the pack's governess.

"Yes?"

She looked more serious than usual, which made me a little nervous.

"The Alpha is waiting for you in his office."

Those simple words felt like a stab to the heart. The Alpha had never summoned me privately before.
