The Beginning
Chibanyuu, a childlike person with visage wisdom-worn, stood alone on the beach, gazing over the azure water with hir spotless cerulean windows to hir soul. Hir ebon hair dancedlightly in the ocean breeze, tickling against one cheek as ze smiled to hirself with anticipation as ze traced a finger along hir silver necklace. The sun glinted off of hir khakishoulders and navy shorts that looked comfortable and easy to wear. Hir pitch-dark locks brushed against hir shoulders, complementing hir seraphic hazel visage. An elaborate tattoo snaked its way around hir visible skin. A noticeable sigil provided proof of hir descent. Furry ears flicked at the top of hir head, and ze twitched hir inky tail.
Hir thoughts wandered to hir days in Val’s company. One fateful day, Chibanyuu had found her near death’s door, and in a striking display of bravery, saved her very life. From then on, they were inseparable. They shared every part of their life with each other. That was how it was to this very day. Chibanyuu’s ocean-colored spheres spotted Val further down on the beach, closer to the roaring sea. Her lovely strands rippled behind her in a aurulent wave. Her orbs were turned toward the ocean, hidden from Chibanyuu’s sight, but ze knew and loved their delicate opaline hue. She was dressed in that exotic fashion in which she was most comfortable. She had a generously curvaceous cotton candy-flushed pearly form. A prominent scar stood out on her milky, tinted with hazel, skin. A symbol marked her skin.Beautiful wings were folded against her back. As Chibanyuu drew nearer, ze caught a note of her familiar scent, a mixture of earthiness and sourness that was uniquely hers. Ze smiled to hirself. It always reminded hir of the time they shared. “Chiba,” ze called, walking towards her.
She jumped a bit before turning around, smiling shyly. “Oh, Cupid! I-It’s nice to see you.”
“It’s good to see you again,” Chibanyuu said, taking her hand. “Have I kept you waiting?”
“Not at all,” she murmured. They began their leisurely walk along the ocean’s edge.
To their surprise, Val was the first to speak. “I-I’ve never really... had anything like this.” She clung a little tighter to Chibanyuu’s warm hand, resting her head against hir soft, warm arm.
“Never?” ze asked.
“Well,” she whispered, her voice trailing off. her eyelashes flicked downward as unbidden memories of the past rose to flash before her eyes.
“I love you,” ze replied, landing a peck on her soft honey-colored locks.
“I love you too.”
They strolled together for a few moments, the beautiful clear royal blue sky decorated with only a few hints of loamy clouds. The sun struck her strands in a tawny halo about her face.
Chibanyuu looked at her admiringly. “You’re beautiful,” ze told her. She blushed.
“W-Why do you say that...?” she stuttered, still recovering from hir compliment.
“Because it’s the truth.” Chibanyuu placed hir hand around Val, drawing her nearer. “Not only that,” he continued. “You’re talented as well. We couldn’t have saved the world without you.”
“I caused a lot of trouble for you,” she mumbled. “You were really the one who did all those amazing things. And you’re so strong...” Her eyes wandered over hir face, hir innocent depths, hir charcoal locks. “... And handsome. I’m so lucky to have met you.”
“It must have been destiny.” Ze gave her an assuring squeeze. “But I never want you in that kind of danger again.”
“As long as you’re by my side,” she whispered, letting Chibanyuu draw her into an embrace, “nothing bad will happen to me.”
“I swear it,” ze affirmed.
“Nothing...” she whispered, her hand seeking out hir larger ones.
After a few moments, they found themselves walking down the beach again. It seemed to Chibanyuu that something had been bothering Val for the last few hours -- or maybe longer than that. Her kind-natured opaline globes were cast down and away, focused upon nothing in particular.
It really hurt hir inside to see her like that. Ze reached for her, tucked a stray blonde strand behind her ear, and traced a finger across her jawline. “What’s wrong, Val?”
“Chibanyuu... it’s, just...”
Chibanyuu cupped her face in hir hands, brushing hir lips against her forehead. “You can tell me.”
She took a deep breath and gazed into hir royal blue windows to hir soul with a look full ofsweet sadness, whispering, “I keep thinking about him. You know, we... were together, in our own way.... I didn’t want to talk about him all the time with you, Chibanyuu. I want you to know... it’s not the same. But, no matter what... when I think about him, it hurts, Chibanyuu. He... isn’t someone I’m going to forget.”
Chibanyuu listened attentively, hir eyebrows furrowing at each of Val’s recounted sorrows. At last, when she finished, a moment of silence passed between them.
She looked so aching and insecure. Ze brought her closer in reassurance, only wanting to hold her until the hurt subsided, murmuring, “I know, Val. I know how it feels. You see, that’s been on my mind too. My relationship of the past.... I haven’t told you, but it’s been bothering me too. But... never mind that.” Chibanyuu placed hir hands on Val’s shoulders. “I’m here for you, Val. As long as you need me.”
Val’s eyes began to redden, and she abruptly pulled hir into a fierce embrace. Hir spheres widened at first, but then ze too felt overwhelmed by emotion and succumbed to the warmth of her touch.
“You,” Val whispered, her breath hot on hir ear. “As long as you’re here, I’ll be all right.“They held each other as tears trickled down cheeks and dripped onto the shifting sands to be carried away into the sea. With time and soothing embraces, their pain dissipated into a mist swept out by the ocean breeze and into the setting sun.
They basked in each other’s quiet companionship for a few moments.
“The sunset is so beautiful, isn’t it?”
Chibanyuu lifted hir head at Val’s words to behold the dying sun’s fiery radiance. “It’s nice.”
After a moment of silence, she asked, “Do you think we’ll be together forever?”
“I think we’ll be forever,” Chibanyuu murmured in response.
“I would like that, Cupid. Let’s be together forever, then.” Val clutched hir hand and sidled closer.
Chibanyuu sighed with contentment and brought her closer. Ze gazed at the beautifullemon-colored rays of the falling sun, thinking about everything that had transpired on this day and all that would pass between them.
“I love you, Val.”
“I love you too, Chibanyuu.”
Their lips met, and onyx strands met blonde ones, aflame in the dying light. The sand was their witness and the rumbling ocean their approving audience, and Val, hir eternally faithful lover. Chibanyuu thought to hirself that nothing could be more perfect in the world.
... Thus concludes our tale.
Sincerly Yours,
LycanBlaze.
