Elephant’s Dilemma
Bubba can solve any math problem, but his heart flutters every time PickyPiggy shares her snacks with him. With the Heart Festival tomorrow, he sits at his desk to design a complex, mechanical pop-up card that calculates exactly how much he likes her.
The math is the easy part—he easily proves his feelings using a multi-variable calculus formula. The hard part is the presentation. He recalculates the structural integrity of the pop-up heart three times, terrified that a minor engineering error might cause the whole card to collapse right into her lunchbox.
Just as he glues the final gear into place, he realizes a major flaw in his calculations: he forgot to factor in PickyPiggy's favorite snack. If his data is incomplete, the entire mechanism could give the wrong reading. With midnight approaching, he needs a new strategy fast.
Sweat dripping onto his blueprint, Bubba stared in absolute horror at the intricate paper heart.
How could he have forgotten the snacks? Snacks were PickyPiggy's entire personality!
In a fit of desperate panic, he began rummaging through his own room, throwing open drawers, knocking over rulers, and tearing through old backpacks.
If he couldn't calculate her exact favorite, he would just have to build an adjustable "Snack Slider" into the side of the card and hope she didn't notice the wet glue during homeroom.
