Summary

The Peacock and the Rich Boy By Shalom Daisy Adams believes in love, dreams, and the little things that make life beautiful. Living in Texas with her family, she is determined to enjoy her life, stand by her friends, and follow her heart—even when her own past leaves her with unanswered questions. Jeremy Pucker has everything money can buy. Born into a wealthy family, he is surrounded by luxury, power, and expectations. But beneath his confident attitude is a young man who has struggled with family problems, painful memories, and a broken view of love. When Daisy and Jeremy meet, they are complete opposites. She is the girl who gets excited about stars and ice cream, while he is the rich boy who believes love is nothing but trouble. Their teasing begins with nicknames: she calls him “Rich Boy,” and he calls her “Peacock.” But as they spend more time together, something begins to change. Behind their arguments, unexpected moments of kindness and feelings neither of them planned for, Daisy starts reaching a part of Jeremy that he thought was lost forever. However, secrets from the past, jealousy, heartbreak, and family struggles threaten to destroy what they are building. When the truth finally comes out, Daisy must decide whether she can trust the boy who taught her that even the most guarded heart can learn to love. Can Daisy and Jeremy overcome their pasts and choose love, or will their secrets keep them apart? Sometimes, the person who changes your life is the one you never expected to love. Ou

Chapter 1 Barbies Don't Cry Over Men 🎀

Barbies Don't Cry Over Men 🎀

Hi, everyone! If you're new here, welcome. My name is Daisy Adams. I live in Texas with my family: my dad and his wife.

I know y'all are probably wondering, What do I mean by his wife? Isn't she my mom? Bla, bla, bla.

Well, she's just my stepmom. And as for my mom, we'd better not talk about that.

Fall just started, and I'm super excited to see what it has in store for me.

Well, before I decided to introduce myself, I was actually getting ready to visit my friend Amanda. Her man cheated on her, and she really needs me right now. I have a midterm exam coming up, but you know it: when a friend calls, we check!

POV: [Amanda's House]

(The doorbell rings.)

Daisy:

The door opened, and I stepped inside the house. I saw her mom, Mrs. Madeleine.

"Good afternoon, ma'am."

"Hey, sweetie! Thank you for coming. She has refused to come out of her room, even to eat or take a shower. I really wish I could stay with her, but I need to head to work now. Bye!"

"Bye! I'll take care of her."

With that being said, she left. I headed upstairs to Amanda's room and gave the door a slight knock.

Knock, knock.

"Who is it?"

I heard her small, innocent voice ask.

"It's me, Daisy."

"D... D-Daisy?"

"Yes! Can you please open your door now?"

She opened the door, and I stepped inside the room.

On my life, I had never seen a room as messy as the one my eyes witnessed. She had turned the whole room upside down. Papers, clothes, trash, makeup...

Lawd!

"Girl, what happened here?"

"What does it look like?"

"Like... like HELL! This is horrible."

"Go away."

"I'm not leaving you alone, especially in this condition."

"I'm unlovable."

"Says who? Who told you that nonsense?"

"James did. He cheated on me with Rejoice, of all people!"

(She sobs.)

"Girl, I'm so sorry. Panta hug?"

"Panta hug, please."

(I opened my arms wide, and she hugged me.)

"Don't listen to that loser. You deserve better."

"Imma be alone."

"Your life isn't determined by a guy. You have so much more to achieve. Remember Paris? The dream life!"

"I give up."

"No, you don't. Come here, big baby!"

"I hate men."

"So, what are we now? Anti-men?"

(We both laugh.)

"That's that pretty smile! Remember, Barbies don't cry over men. Repeat that."

"I don't want to."

"Say it!"

"Barbies don't cry over men."

"Yes! And now, stop crying and fix this mess, 'cause your room stinks so bad!"

"I love you."

"I know! And now, I have a midterm to revise for, but let's get you some milkshakes to cool this hot temperature off."

"He will pay for this."

"Surely, he will!"

(Barbies don't cry over men.)
